The Seal,
This review is from: The Seal: A Priest's Story (Paperback)
This book was so compelling I could not put it down. It was well written, with clear language, and strong sensitive notes. The writer bears his soul in such a way, he draws you into his soul. It was shocking to learn that such an incident could take place in the USA. The separation of church and state is for the benefit of the people not the state. At times such as these, the state tends to reverse it but we can't let that happen. Fr Mockaitis was violated by the state and it caused irreperable damage. I highly recommend this book.

Victory over state by church,
This review is from: The Seal: A Priest's Story (Paperback)
It is so easy for us to lose our inaliable rights in this world.
Fr Tim did an amazing job of telling his story of what it was like to have this go on around him and have to be "silent" to it. After reading this I know how he can empathize individuals who have been violated

A compelling and thoughtful read,
By P. Boulay (Salem, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Seal: A Priest's Story (Paperback)
The Seal: A Priest's story, recalls the true story of an outrageous violation of religious liberty which created an unprecedented rift between the powers of Church and State. The story explores uncharted legal territory in this first impression case involving a priest, a penitent, a district attorney and the Catholic Church. Supported with a compelling Foreword written by Francis Cardinal George, Archbishop of Chicago, Fr. Mockaitis relates in both a very personal and public style the first time a violation of the seal of confession was alleged in a capital case in the United States, and the first time an attempt was made in court to define a violation of the seal of the confessional as a First Amendment violation. Read and discuss this powerful book.
