Professional Photographers Best Winter Choice,
By Frederick Dunn "The Fellowship Of The Feather" (Rural Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME) Prior to getting these gloves, I had to wear mittens, or thick winter gloves, I'd pull my hands out to use my camera equipment, then tuck my hands back into my pockets or regular winter garments. These SealSkinz are the best thing.. they sort of remind me of thin neoprene diver's gloves (I'm also a retired Navy Diver),yet they keep your hands completely dry and it's the wet which chills your hands to the bone quicker than anything! Of course, you can't dip your hands completely into the water (past the cuff) or you will have water in the gloves, thus defeating the thermal protection altogether. However, if you did need a pair for intermediate cold water diving/snorkeling, then these seem as if they would work somewhat as exposure gear underwater (with water in and outside the gloves), this is also how wet-suits work.. water gets in and warms up next to your skin. Want to keep your hands dry? Then feel free to put them in water, just not past the cuff.. enough said. What they do for me, is provide protection for my hands, from cold and wet and still have enough dexterity to operate my camera equipment and all the controls I need to access. Very good grip also, which is helpful when handling rain covered tri-pods and other equipment requireing knob adjustments. Handling a metal tri-pod on a cold day is no treat, these gloves also solve that issue. I think they would be great for anyone who has to function in wet conditions, needs the added dexterity and doesn't really need a "work" glove. I don't think they would hold up to much abrasion nor sheet metal work, for example. They suit my needs flawlessly and I'm buying my third pair today... just wanted to share what I like about them. Each pair has lasted me about a year.. when I put snow tires on, I will probably purchase a new pair of these gloves every year from here on out. Hope this review helps someone make an informed decision.

I am a window cleaner and I got these for working in the winter. My hands are in water a lot and these gloves keep them completely dry and still allow me enough dexterity to to do my work. I highly recommend these gloves.

Best Gloves I've Ever Had,
By

Because the gloves are relatively thin, they are convenient, I don't have to take them off to use my fingers for most 'touchy' work. Because of the membrane, I've worn them hunting for years, and never suffered wet hands. Even better, the membrane works flawlessly, so they do not become damp from my own sweat. Lastly, with a pair of handwarmers, they have worked well even with temps below freezing for relatively long times. It's hard to believe how well they work to keep my hands warm given how thin they are.

Be Warned: Not Waterproof,

It seems like there are two products being reviewed here. I specifically got these gloves because they were said to be waterproof. Many of the front page reviews for this item praise its waterproof-ness. However, the gloves I got are in no way waterproof. They have some rubber studs on the palm, but the rest is woven cotton! They got very wet instantly when I wore them and didn't dry out for days.
I can only think that the reviews that say they got a waterproof glove got a very different glove, so: be warned!

These gloves really work. They're waterproof and keep my hands warm during our Michigan winters. This is my second or third pair over the years.

I first bought these in the XL version, which I kept, and then bought the large. I normally have a hard time finding gloves that fit my big hands. The XL size is actually loose on me, both across the hand, and on each finger and thumb. The large version fits perfectly, and snug. I have actually dipped each hand into a bucket of water, both while wiggling, and clenching my fist and opening my hand - and my hands stay dry. These will be my go-to gloves for snow blowing, and the XL version will reside in my car to be used when scrapping snow off the windows - the XL version being easier/faster to take on and off. These are not bulky. As I also ride my recumbent in the winter, these will be my go-to glove when it's wet out, and is thin enough to use while riding. In closing, please note that I usually have to buy at least a XXL glove, and the large size fits well and snugly.

Beware! Hands are useless in a Velcro envorinment....gloves stick to Velcro better than Velcro itself,

I bought these gloves for a "blue water" sailing trip where hands are on the tiller of a very wet boat for hours on end. I wore a Smartwool liner under the gloves. Whether they are really waterproof or not is still up for debate, I found that my liners were soaked through after several hours of use, but I can neither confirm or deny that perspiration was the cause. What I can confirm is that if you are wearing these gloves and have to manipulate anything made of Velcro you are in for the most frusting adventure of your life. I never realized how many "outdoor related" things these days are equipped with Velcro until I had these gloves on.....even my rainsuit has Velcro on the wrists and neck. It is literally impossible to wear these gloves in a Velcro environment and have any meaningful use of your hands. I also found that these gloves snag and tear easly when using any object that isn't perfectly smooth (I tore a hole in mine when it was snagged on a sail clasp held with a cotter pin) Another setback is that the gloves seemed to shrink after the first use....I first put them on dry and they fit on my hands over the wool liners just fine....I removed them to rack out and could not get them back on to save my life... even without the liners.... I can say that while I had them on my hands never got cold....but that is the only positive.

These gloves are very nice as heavy liners or a light pair of gloves that you'll know you'll get wet. They are waterproof and I use them for sailing in the winter months. Wish they made a pair that had a better wearing palm grip. The dots are great for grip, but wouldn't hold up to heavy wear on lines. Otherwise, very happy w/ the product.

these gloves are great. but, i have found that since they are waterproof, sweat gets trapped in the inner layer, and if i don't turn them inside out to let them air, they smell nasty. but they sure keep my hands warm. i think they will be even better when i get some mittens to wear over them. but they are pretty good gloves alone. i will probably buy another pair in the future. and i'm planning on trying the socks too.
