Book Description

April 1, 1995
Postal Inspector Eamon Wearie is seeing red--a lot of it, splattered everywhere. A very chilly chain letter is circlating to a string of Baltimore men, who are then turning up dead. Somewhere out there is an enraged femme fatale, the sting of whose pen is second only to that of her automatic weapon. Featured in A Pocket Full of Crime mystery newsletter.

This review is from: Sealed with a Kiss (Eamon Wearie Mystery) (Paperback)
McGrady's third novel in the Eamon Wearie Mystery series has a lot of things I like, and nothing I don't. Who-done-it is not a genre I usually purchase or read, but I find myself really enamored of the writing style here; it's tight, concise, with enough description to set the scene, but not so much that I find myself losing interest. Characters are complex and flawed (my favorite kind--those who resemble "real" people), and dialogue rings true. Caveat: Characters discuss women's issues in this novel, from the point of view of both estrogen and testosterone, so if you're not into intelligent, in-depth exploration of important issues, you may find yourself skimming. But for me, it's just another aspect of the book I enjoyed. Nice read.
