About the Author

David George Gordon, a biologist, worked at the Field Museum of Natural History and the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago before moving west. At the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, Washington, he became interested in whales. Now he makes his living in Seattle as a nature writer working with aquariums and other conservation organizations.
