Author doesn't keep the facts straight,
This review is from: Seals the Warrior Breed: Iraqi Freedom (Mass Market Paperback)
I awaited the release of this book for months and maybe that is part of my disappointment. The book had little of the constant action of the earlier books in the series. The biggest disappointment was when the author mentioned David Tangretti's father as "Hank Tangretti" on page 159. David's father was Bill Tangretti, who was on Koh Tang in Seals the Warrior Breed - In Harm's Way. Bill has a half brother Hank Richardson.
The fact the author did not remember or do his research is disappointing. Also the fact this book seemed to take more than a few shots at President Bush seemed out of line. If there is another book published I will buy it more for the fact I have all eleven and to keep the set going. I hope the author gets feed back like this and will do a better job on the next book.

SEALs as The 6:00 O'clock News,
This review is from: Seals the Warrior Breed: Iraqi Freedom (Mass Market Paperback)
Riker drops the ball on this one.
From what has BEEN an excellent series about brave and honorable Navy SEALs fighting America's battles, this time Riker degenerates into the same type of Loony-Left anti-George Bush/anti-war BS that can be found by turning on any 6:00 O'clock network news program. Riker regurgitates the usual "Blood for Oil, Bush did it for his rich Oil buddies" story line that's so beloved by the Far Left. Riker earned a single star for this junk, and just may have lost a very faithful reader. I want my eight bucks back, and Riker may not get my money for a future book.

After reading the two published reviews, I have decided not to continue with the purchase of Mr. Riker's books.
His Bush-bashing sounds very Clintonesque which I find reprehensible.

Thanks to the other reviewers,
This review is from: Seals the Warrior Breed: Iraqi Freedom (Mass Market Paperback)
I was getting ready to buy the series and decided not to bother since the author has chosen a dishonorable course in his looney left diatribes. Thanks again for helping me not waste my money.

Rikers story isn't so bad, but his Clintonista politics constantly ooze through....his seething hatred of George Bush, "like a deer in the headlights" and equating faithful Christians with murdering jihadists caused me to start ripping pages out and tossing them onto the floor.
Riker continues to show his hatred of America and victory for our troops by sounding like a John Kerry with, "..wrong war, wrong time..." p 367 and finally, "failures of luck, imagination and nerve" p 370. All I wanted for my overpriced paperback was to be entertained, not a lecture from Stalinist reject from the 60's.

Too much cr-- and railing against the Bush Administration. If I wanted to read that I could have bought something by a staff writer of SALON

Have some Kool-Aid,
This review is from: Seals the Warrior Breed: Iraqi Freedom (Mass Market Paperback)
The author allowed his personal, political views to hijack what would otherwise have been a good novel. I struggled through this book in hopes that the unnecessary rants would give way to the story but sadly almost every action scene ended with a tall glass of liberal Kool-Aid to the very end. With the amount of political jabs that basically screams "Nothing is worth fighting for", it amazes me that he would write a military novel and with so much contradiction at that. Sorry dude... your not going to go down range and find a group of guys with signs that say "yes, I am responsible for a terror attack. Please shoot me." This is the first H Jay Riker novel I have read and I believe it will be my last. He needs to do a little more historical research and stop regurgitating CNN diatribes against President Bush. Riker is wasting his talent. Don't waste your money on this book.

This was my first Riker novel about the Seals, and all I could think after reading it, was I want MORE! More stories of Navy Seals and their adventures. When I realized there were 10 predecessors to this one I was dancing on sunshine. As to the other reviews? Put your political views aside and read about how our most honored and revered special forces group attempted a mission to provide intelligence, pre-attack Iraqi War. I came away from this book with knowledge of the people and cultures of the region and their expectations from us as allies again'st Sadam. Maybe we didn't exactly back the right people the way we intimated in the beginning but we did offer our support with conditions. If your curious about the Iraqi War and the conditions that led up to our attack, maybe you should pick up this book and enjoy a good story. I did and I'm glad I did. Mr. Riker, if you write more of these, I'll be first in line to buy it. I've never enjoyed a series of books more than I've enjoyed reading these about the seals and how they got started all the way back in the first book, "Silver Star". I'm still reading them, and will probably reread them again if I get a chance. I would highly recommend "Iraqi Freedom" and any other book by this author as time well spent.

NO MORE RIKER,
This review is from: Seals the Warrior Breed: Iraqi Freedom (Mass Market Paperback)
For an author who did very well on his submarine books and the first 4 SEALS books, I wonder what happened to him. I am done buying any of his books and I hope everyone out there including SEALS say "NO MORE RIKER".
