We just got this mattress and I'm worried about using it for the baby because it does NOT seem as firm as crib mattresses are supposed to be. It has 150 coils which is supposed to be sufficient but I wish I had looked for more than 200 coils. Also, the fact this mattress' inner materials are "organic" is pointless because it's entirely wrapped in some kind of plastic! And the label doesn't tell you what kind of plastic, at a time when parents want to know what kind of plastic is in their baby's products. If you want a truly organic mattress spring for the expensive Naturepedic one. I was trying to save money when I bought this one thinking I'd found an affordable alternative but I only got what I paid for.

Do not buy these. I called the manufacturer (Kolcraft, Sealy doesn't even mention crib mattresses on their website)and asked what the horrible, toxic smelling plastic was on the outside of these "organic" mattresses and they said it was vinyl, the exact same vinyl as is on all their other mattresses. What is the point? Don't let your baby sleep on vinyl. I agree with the other reviewer, go for Naturepedic. They offer either food-grade, non-toxic plastic or better yet, organic cotton with or without the waterproof coating.

This mattress may have organic cotton layers on the inside, but the exterior cover is made of plastic. I opened the packaging, and caught a strong wiff of plasticy-chemical smell. I sure hope it isn't PVC, because that would be the ultimate irony.

Greenwashing?

The label and description on this product is very misleading. I wish I would have seen the reviews here before I ordered this mattress from Wal-Mart. Imagine my disappointment upon receiving a prison-style mattress covered in ugly pink vinyl when I thought I was getting something soft and breathable made of organic cotton. This mattress cost $95 at Wal-Mart. I returned it and went to Target and bought a Munchkin ComfortSafe cotton mattress for $89.

This is the second time I have purchased this mattress, I have one for my 2 year old and just purchased another for our next baby we are expecting. It is not 100% organic but a full organic mattress is out of our price range. The mattress has held up very well for our 2 year old and she seems to be comfortable on it, she has never had a problem sleeping. The outside does have a plastic covering, but some organic is better than no organic.

Crib mattresses are supposed to be firm, and this one definitely is not as firm as other mattresses I've seen. Also, the organic cotton is on the inside wrapped in plastic with all the traditional fire retardants, etc.

My child sleeps very well on this mattress, and he has been incredibly picky before. Also, it was very prompt delivery with the item in immaculate condition. Thanks!

This mattress is nice and firm, but is also comfortable for babies and toddlers. Both of my children, (currently ages 6 months and 29 months) have this mattress in their cribs, and they both sleep very well with it. It's a durable mattress, and ours show no signs of wear and tear. They are waterproof and wipe off very easily, which is very nice for nighttime leaks! This is a high quality mattress, and I would recommend it to anyone!

this is a great mattress. I have 2 of these and they are spectacular. my kids love them and the lastic outer shell is great for accidents. The review that complain about it forget that infants and toddlers have no control over bodily fluids. It makes for super easy clean up when things go wrong.

Couldn't be more pleased with this mattress. It fits perfectly in our crib (DaVinci Kalani Convertible Crib in Espresso). I put a sheepskin mattress cover over it (for comfort and coziness), and then topped that with the cutest cotton sheets from The Company Store and our daughter (now four months old) just loves it.
