5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I've read in a long time!
I am a big Lori Wick fan and Sean Donavon is one of her best. I just finished reading it and I wanted to read more about Sean and Charlie! Sean is a wonderful character that started out as a wild young man and grew into a sweet, sensitive Christian man. The characters were wonderful and the love story kept me turning the pages! A lot of adventure and romance to keep you...

3.0 out of 5 stars entertaining, but not enough.
This is a very well-intentioned but mediocrely-written book. While it was entertaining, and not nearly as painful to finish as some other books I have read, it was still a huge disappointment. The story is decent, but is written in a choppy style, jumping around with little bullets that are very unnecessary - simple transitionary sentences would suffice, but instead it...

5.0 out of 5 stars NEW FOLLOWER, September 16, 2001

SUE SMITH (BARNSTABLE CAPE COD USA) - See all my reviews
WHILE I WAS ON VACATION IN BERMUDA I STUMBLED ONTO LORI'S BOOKS. I SPENT JUST ABOUT EVERY WAKING MOMENT READING THE FIRST 2 BOOKS AND WHEN I CAME HOME I ORDERED THE 3RD AND 4TH BOOK READ THE 3RD ONE IN 2 DAYS. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE 4TH BOOK TO ARRIVE.

I LOVE THE WAY THAT LORI BROUGHT 2 STRANGERS TOGETHER SEAN AND CHARLIE AT FIRST AND THEN BY THE END OF THE BOOK THEY WERE WHERE GOD WANTED THEM AND DEEPLY IN LOVE. IT MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT WONDERFUL MARRIAGES DO EXIST ESPECIALLY WHEN GOD IS AT THE BASE OF IT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sean Donovan couldn't forgive his father..., April 13, 1999
By A Customer
This being the 3rd book in the Californian series I read through it quickly but not without tears and pain...Sean had alot of baggage from his childhood and he searched everywhere for some help and love. I can hardly wait to read Donovan's Daughter.

This is a very well-intentioned but mediocrely-written book. While it was entertaining, and not nearly as painful to finish as some other books I have read, it was still a huge disappointment. The story is decent, but is written in a choppy style, jumping around with little bullets that are very unnecessary - simple transitionary sentences would suffice, but instead it comes off as having television show style scene changes. This book is filled with so many cheesy, sappy lines and narrations that I rolled my eyes so many times I thought they would fall out of my head. Just not realistic or intelligent enough for my tastes. If you have a few hours to kill with nothing better to do, then pick up this book, but if you are looking for a good book with substance, steer clear of this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Donovan's life transformed!, May 30, 2001
This is the closest thing to a "thriller" that Wick has written yet--the first part was SO intriguing and suspenseful! I was delighted that Charlie & Sean found a way to make their unlikely romance not only bloom, but blossom!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, August 3, 2000

This book was really good. I loved the way circumstances led to the wedding. A good book that shows God's redeeming love and the way it can transform a person!

5.0 out of 5 stars I cried and loved it., October 20, 1999
I cried over this book (Lori Wick has been the only author who has made me do that) and I loved it with all my heart. Its a book like the rest of the series that I will read again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, December 4, 1999
Every single "Californians" novel that Lori Wick wrote has been wonderful. This specific book was excellent because it shows that God can work wonders in a relationship no matter how hard it can be.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit different from the others..., May 28, 2011

This review is from: Sean Donovan (The Californians, Book 3) (Paperback)
I really liked this book. It was a bit different from the others in that (spoiler ahead) Sean was married through most of the book, and the second half found them married in every since of the word. That confused me at first, wondering what more was there to pursue, but there was SO MUCH MORE and Lori did such a wonderful job in taking us all the way there. It was so nice watching this husband and wife grow closer.

Though not as exciting as the "A Place Called Home" series, "The Californians" is still a very good series. I can't wait to start on her next series!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a 20 out of 10, January 27, 2011
This review is from: Sean Donovan (The Californians, Book 3) (Paperback)
I absolutely loved this book, personally, its her best one yet! There is not a dull moment in it. It amazing to le your mind get caught up in their world! The best part though, is that God is at the center of the story, Sean does a fantastic job of showing that.
