Editorial Reviews

The Evil Ones have been trapped in-between the worlds for millennia. They cannot cross the veil that separates our physical world from their realm without help from this side. During a séance, lead by En'Kara (Tracie Minkoff), five friends unwittingly open a portal through the veil, which helps the Evil Ones to take possession of humans. Those who are unable

to take a host appear as shadow beings, fleeting glimpses unable to manifest physically.

Brien (Evan Johnson) follows a shadow being through the veil to a parallel universe. He ends up finding his chase, Enki (Scott Carrillo), who relates to him the philosophy on true nature of the universe. Brien learns that he has been charged with stopping the Evil Ones from crossing over before the number of their entities reaches critical mass, thus bringing down the veil.

The possessed Aliester (Paul Martinez) tries one last time to help his brethren cross over the veil. Brien thwarts his efforts by changing reality as he becomes one with the veil.

Without the veil, there is no separation of the manifest from the unmanifest; the order of our universe would revert to the chaos before creation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice FX for a first time Indie., March 4, 2006

The makers of this little Indie picture really tried to reach for more than the usual stalk and slash type movie. It's a little slow paced, which might lose some people, but there's quite a bit of thought behind what's going on. The performances aren't bad (some even quite good!) and the main highlight is the FX work. Yeah there's a few bad shots, but some are completely invisible. Also the musical score sounds like a big budget flick.

The behind the scenes and out takes are a hoot! Pretty choice for some folks working out of their local media center (which gets a nod during the end credits).

5.0 out of 5 stars First taste of a true low budget film, March 26, 2007
This review is from: Shadow Beings (DVD)
This was my first low or no budget film. I have seen many since that time because of this movie. The first thing that got me hooked on this film was the opening music; it draws you in and starts you on the path of the film. The movie is part Sci-fi, part conspiracy, with a little bit of supernatural thrown in to keep you from trusting the shadows in your own room. The movie is gray in mood and even in parts of characters triumph, you have the feeling it is just the beginning of the worst to come. Acting was good some better then others, but no worst than some of the blockbuster hit I have seen for $10. If you like to see movies with sole and made by people that still care for the true art of film making then you need this one in your collection or if you want a break from the Hollywood cookie cutter big budget movies.
