Dementia CAREGIVERS: complete this workbook.,
By Brenda Avadian, MA "TheCaregiversVoice.com" (Pearblossom, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In Search of the Alzheimer's Wanderer: A Workbook to Protect Your Loved One (Spiral-bound)
Having experienced "The Great Escape" in 1996 after my 87-year old father with Alzheimer's disappeared from the nursing home, this book covers everything, including steps to take when your loved one is missing. I urge every enforcement agency to use copies of this book in training; especially, how to approach and talk with a person with dementia. Family caregivers need to complete this workbook and hope they never have to use it. Completing it does provide a wonderful detailed history of our loved ones.

This review is from: In Search of the Alzheimer's Wanderer: A Workbook to Protect Your Loved One (Spiral-bound)
In Search Of The Alzheimer's Wanderer: A Workbook To Protect Your Loved One by Mark L. Warner is a "user friendly" instructional workbook and guide to the "what-to-do" aspect of dealing with a wandering Alzheimer's patient. Acting as an in-depth reference for all caregivers of patients and loved ones with Alzheimer's, In Search Of The Alzheimer's Wanderer details just what to do in anticipation and planning for a wandering occurrence with such things as understanding what objects they may never leave home without, what behaviors they might display to attract attention, and whether or not they might hide while being searched for, as well as a comprehensive list of things to do in order of time from fifteen minutes after the discovery of the missing, to the first hour, etc. In Search Of The Alzheimer's Wanderer is commended to all caregivers of Alzheimer's patients for its invaluable ideas and strategies which are likely to become necessary in the incident of a wandering individual. Also very highly recommended from Purdue University Press is Mark L. Warner's The Complete Guide To Alzheimer's Proofing Your Home (1557532-028).
