Studies have shown that children’s reading improves when the amount of reading and writing required of them increases. We offer ways to accomplish this while providing lessons firmly based in the skills required by most language arts curricula.
This unit is flexible enough to suit the budget of a classroom teacher building the interests of a multicultural student population, or that of a school or district meeting the needs of students with varied decoding and comprehension reading levels. Lesson plans are designed to be used along with a teacher read-aloud; however, acquiring multiple copies of titles would allow students to benefit from independent reading or a literature circle format. You can also mix and match titles and quantities as your budget permits.
