About the Author
A true entrepreneur, Don Abbott's name is attached to a long list of inventions, innovations, and business ventures. His early career as a radio and TV personality led to the formation in the mid-1960s of Abbott Productions, an Indianapolis-based media production company. Under his leadership the company produced national commercials and sales presentations, some featuring Abbott's appealing and convincing voice. Abbott moved his company to Southwest Florida in the early 1980s. Abbott Productions has since been recognized as a pioneering force in the field of direct response advertising. With the introduction of his Positive Changes for a Positive Tomorrow program, Abbott s speaking career was launched in 1984. He has shared the stage with luminaries from all industries, speaking to corporations and associations across the United States. In Search of the Five-Cent Nickel started out as a chapter in Don's forthcoming book based on his motivational program. When accomplished author and speaker Jacquelyn Lynn read that book's outline, she envisioned the chapter as a stand alone, self-help reference book to assist in combating today's challenging economy, and this collaboration was born.
Jacquelyn Lynn is a business writer and speaker whose dynamic books and insightful articles have been helping business owners and managers work smarter and more profitably since 1986. Just last night, one of my friends made this comment to me: No matter what's going on in the economy, the economy that you have the greatest ability to affect is YOUR OWN. I couldn't agree more. Though times are tough, each of us has control over how we spend our money. I received my copy of In Search of the Five-Cent Nickel earlier this week and picked it up one evening just before bed with the intention of glancing through it. Before I knew it, an hour had gone by and I had made my way through a significant portion of the book. I was riveted! I have to say that although I pride myself on knowing how to find the best deals and shave money off of everything from our home heating bill to a new oven -- I was pleasantly surprised at how many tips and insights I gleaned from this book. I've already put several of them into action in just the past week -such as organizing a babysitting co-op and using what's in our pantry to create healthy, low-cost meals and guess what? With minimal effort, a hundred bucks has stayed in our household budget that otherwise would have been history. Bottom line -- this book will pay for itself several times over in the cost-saving ideas and tips that you can glean and, even if you think you're a guru at saving money -- you'll be surprised at the ideas you can add to your arsenal to SAVE EVEN MORE!

The right book at the right time! I found hundreds of easy ways to cut back, save money - but still live well. It's all organized by key topics, so you can quickly find ideas about saving money doing just about anything. Hey, we're all Amazon shoppers because we like to save money, Right? I just read it yesterday and I've already saved the cost of the book.
