The album provides a slew of highlights and variety, from the couldn't-be-any-other-band-in the- world opening of "Beginning Of The End" or "I Don't Wanna Hurt You Any More" to the loping swagger of "Pennsylvania Blues Tonight" to the more considered Blues/Country styling's of "Electric Arena".
Status Quo's total worldwide record sales exceed 118 million units.
Quo have recorded 63 British hit singles - more than any other band - 22 of which have hit the Top Ten. The first hit was "Pictures of Matchstick Men" which reached Number 7 in January 1968.

Have been a fan for about 30 years now and have every album so i guess i am a bit bias , but this album is cool . Like the last 2 albums they are back to a heaver sound from the past except for a few tracks . I thought the track pennsylvania blues was one of the strangest quo songs ive ever heard at first but now i really love it , they still rock

I am actually stunned by how good this cd is. I go back 30+ years as a fan and I think this is better than anything since On The Level or Blue For You. Quo has been good but uneven since. Then came the Heavy Traffic cd which was good AND consistant but lacked grit.
Pip Williams' production is so evident that after the first listen I was thinking "Where's the songs?". On a second listen I realized the songs were not only there but as good as ever. I had just been distracted by the "cajones infusing" hard edge production by Williams. While songs like "Alright" and "Hold Me" are boogie throwbacks to the 70's, it's the pounding "Bad News" and guitar assault of "Gravy Train" that sets In Search of the Fourth Chord apart from the last 30 years. Even the two slower songs, "Electric Arena" and "Tongue Tied" are pretty good. But by far my favorite song is the harmonica, piano, blues-based romp "I Ain't Wasting My Time." The two things I can say about this cd is that it gets better with every listen and "Welcome back boys!"
