This review is from: In Search of History - Loch Ness Monster (A&E DVD Archives) (DVD)
This 50 minute documentary does a good job of tracing the history of the sightings of the Loch Ness Monster. Some of the experts interviewed are Alistair Boyd (Loch Ness historian), Adriane Shine (Loch Ness Project), Dr. Roy Mackal (former head of Loch Ness Investigation Bureau), and Steart Campbell (science writer).

The sightings that are commented on are the following:

1933 Surgeon's photo
1960 Tim Dinsdale's 16 mmm (reviewed by Joint Air Reconnaissance of UK)
1967 film Loch Ness Investigation Bureau
1972 Academy of Applied Science sonar results
1975 Academy of Applied Science (body w/ neck, Gargoyle head)

Interspersed throughout the documentary are eyewitness accounts by locals living around the Loch Ness.

The documentary leaves the judgment up to the viewer of what to make of these sightings. Overall it is a good summary of the history for those like myself who am a novice interested in finding out more about the Loch Ness monster. For Loch Ness historians or those who have carefully done much research, it will not add anything new. I deleted a star because I felt the documentary could have presented its information in a more interesting way. It could have given a brief description of a plesiosaur (the long necked marine reptile). It could have also mentioned some of the recent sightings of a "Loch Ness" -like creature in China.

The chapters of this documentary are as follows:

1. The Loch Ness mystery
2. Eyewitness accounts
3. Hoaxes or science?
4. Loch Ness Investigation Bureau
5. Academy of Applied Science
6. Enthusiasm or Deception?
