During over a decade of raising llamas, we have often been astounded by the number of people who are willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars on an animal without ever touching it, reviewing its veterinary records or even knowing whether the animal is reproductively or conformationally sound!

In some cases where one is actively seeking to buy a llama, one meets up with sellers who are particularly adept at presenting themselves-so much so that we may feel swayed into believing that nothing at all could be wrong with the llama under consideration. Unfortunately, all too often, this is not the case and ultimately it leads to costly mistakes.

In creating this Field Guide, we have attempted to focus on the 'ideal' and the 'secrets' of these wonderful animals. In so doing, we've tried to share key information that furthers an understanding of these animals, de-mystifies the subject and most importantly, provides our readers with the fundamentals to feel confident in their own search of 'ideals' and 'secrets'.

I found the information to be very enlightening,and a good source for the novice.After investigating several farms,and using this guide,I found myself able to look at a possible purchase with a much more informed point of view.
