The author discusses countless tales of unknown water monsters from around the world, and leaves judgement as to their existence to the reader. Well researched, it provides a great deal of information, albeit some of the reference sources are inaccurate, this, however is compensated by a book which is of value to the subjects of Cryptozoology/Dracontology and is also a worthwhile read.

A classic cryptozoological study of the Loch Ness Monster, her kith and kin, world-wide. The photo section is truly exceptional, even though only in black-and-white. All sides of the question of what these animals are, and what they look like, are thoroughly investigated.

Peter Costello illustrates the phenomenon of Lake Monsters in his exceedingly well researched, yet eloquent tome. Intelligent without being overly scholarly, this book proves to be a fascinating and engrossing read for monster enthusiasts of all ages! Although the book was originally published in 1974, the background information that Costello presents regarding these enduring mysteries is invaluable. I highly reccommend this book to both dedicated cryptozoologists and the plain, old curious alike!
