An Uplifting Collection, February 29, 2008
This review is from: Search Lights for My Soul (Paperback)
Peggy Fisher's Search Lights for My Soul is an uplifting collection of reflections and affirmations wrapped in the comforting text of Biblical passages.
Using passages from the Authorized (King James) Version of the Bible (which the author points out was her mother's favorite Bible and is the version she, herself chooses to use) Fisher guides her readers from Biblical passage to affirmation with gentle ease. Her slim volume of writing is grouped into "Prayers and Meditations," "Building Bridges with Love," "Thinking Big," and "Search Lights for our Journey." Within each chapter, readers find comfort, encouragement and strength.
From the back cover of the book: "In Search Lights for My Soul, she reminds us that we are born with the Creator's divine light. This light allows us to swim when we are shipwrecked by the storms of life, but it gets covered with the shadows and pain in our respective paths."
Peggy M. Fisher holds an MA from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has had a varied professional life including careers as a registered nurse, an army officer, teacher and guidance counselor. She is now a retired mother of three who writes, practices meditation and classical yoga. She is the author of Lifting Voices: Voices of the Collective Struggle, and has had poems appear in various anthologies including Commemorating Excellence: the 1998 Presidential Awards.

This review is from: Search Lights for My Soul (Paperback)
SEARCH LIGHTS FOR MY SOUL is a luminous reminder that we are born with the Creator's divine light and sometimes the darkness of pain is necessary before we can appreciate this marvelous gift, and transform the light within ourselves. This light allows us to swim when the storms of life have shipwrecked our lives.
For over three decades Ms. Fisher has traveled the world practicing daily prayers and meditation, which she says has allowed God to speak to her in her solitude. She believes His gifts were always there, but it was not until she fell into her pit of darkness that she realized she possessed the will to grasp God's gift of light.
SEARCH LIGHTS FOR MY SOUL is laced with scripture taken from the Authorized (King James) Version of the Bible. Also in the final pages of this book are a few people who have reinforced some of Ms. Fisher's beliefs. Her most concise message is 'Find yourself and love will find you' because she believes love is not a romantic sentiment, but a spiritual force. Inspirational, uplifting, and inspiring, this book reads like a daily devotional.

"Search Lights for My Soul" by Peggy Fisher is filled with reflections, scriptures and affirmations. The scriptures are from the King James Version of the Holy Bible. Ms. Fisher expresses her deep faith through her reflections. "If you have the will, God will show you the way."
Ms. Fisher wisely recognizes that we must seek solitude to hear God's voice." We are bombarded with so many stimuli in our daily lives that it is difficult to hear God's voice." We do not have to completely reject others we just need to seek a short time to listen to God. If we never took the time to listen to our spouse we would weaken that connection. Our relationship with God needs the same connection.
Prayer is the way we converse with God. "When you saturate your prayers with conviction and faith, they vibrate into your unconscious and create positive changes: begin your meditation with a prayer or a reading from the Scriptures." "When the storm clouds gather, don't' say to God, "I can't." Tell the gathering storm, "God is more powerful than you."
Too often we refuse to look for the good in life, to search for the positive. Ms. Fisher states it well when she wrote, "We peer into shadows, rather than catching a glimpse of the light."
Peggy Fisher allows her light to shine bright in her book "Search Lights for My Soul." She shares her faith with her readers in a prose that few are capable of. The words are simple and the message heart felt. All readers will feel the depths of her faith. The cover is beautifully done with a lit candle. That candle must represent Ms. Fisher. I highly recommend this book to all who love the Lord.
