Book Description

July 1997
Robert Schuller says we can't change our culture by changing our laws, but society can be changed from the inside out. You can have a fulfilling life today, he says, because morality comes from the inside out.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Popular Christian author, minister, and radio/TV personality Schuller considers the absence of morality from everyday life in America, arguing that legislation can not provide a solution to a problem that is spiritual in nature. Disagreeing with right-wing fundamentalists who would like to see Christian beliefs ensconced in legal code, Schuller explores what it means for Christians to accept individual responsibility by living lives that are transformed by the Spirit, thereby bringing collective change to a world in need of moral values. Schuller offers a refreshing perspective on Christian living based on clear arguments and a nonjudgmental approach.

4.0 out of 5 stars Teaches the Application of Principles, January 29, 2004

This review is from: In Search of Morality: How You Can Live a Fulfilling Life from the Inside Out (Hardcover)
This book is a study of the fruit of the Spirit, namely: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. It concludes with an explanation of how Jesus lived out these fruit elements in his earthly ministry.

We're reminded of the importance of the primary commandment, love. He writes, "If you want to measure true spirituality, Paul says, then look to kindness, patience, and those other practical expresssions of love." Actions speak, as we know and he points it out by noting, "We demonstrate Godly love for others through the way we act toward them."

Joy is viewed as a force that grows out of our love for God, love for others, and love for ourselves. He describes it as the understanding that God is ultimately in control and loves us and that He is working everything out for the best possible outcome even when it doesn't seem that way.

The weakest part of the book is the beginning. His communication is not representative of what is found in the rest of the book. After the first few pages it is much better.

This review is from: In Search of Morality: How You Can Live a Fulfilling Life from the Inside Out (Hardcover)
Although my religous morals are descended from a different religion from which, the author wrote this book. However i felt no difference in what the Author said, and what i have learnt. As a muslim, I can say that following what robert schuller says in his book is inspiring for me to lead a moral life, and to attach me more to my religous belief. No matter what your religion robert schuller is not speaking just to christians he is speaking to god believers all over the world.
