Who is Mike McGonigal? I have a hard time believing this guy is any kind of professional writer. Calling David Gedge a washed up, middle-aged miserablist (really commenting on his sales figures and age rather than his music) is a pretty harsh judgement, especially since it adds little critical insight into this album and has absolutely no context in the review rather than just a character bashing. And what on earth does Luna have to do with anything? For absolutely no reason he's managed to somehow slander another band that isn't even remotely connected to the Wedding Present or David Gedge. What a truly bizarre and bitter way to conclude a review. I really hope someone else can shed some light on the quality of this album because after reading Amazon's 'editorial' description I still have no idea what to expect. And although I disagree with the assessment of Gedge as being washed up, I think we can all agree that it certainly must be better to be a 'has been' then a 'never was', huh Mr McGonigal?
