5.0 out of 5 stars Holy balls, these guys are good., July 9, 2006

As a fan of music such as the receiving end of sirens to between the buried and me, when I heard of vanna which claimed to be metal/screamo I thought they might be kinda cool. But after hearing "Dead Language for a Dying Lady" and "That Champagne Feelng" I quickly realzed these guys were amazing. Vanna is a new, fun, and heavy touch on a genre that is quickly going down the drain. This EP is filled with amazing, heavy breakdowns(not your pus*y hawthorne heights wannabe breakdowns),melodic and intense singing, deep metal growls, and even some southern rock guitar lines. There's no band that i know of to compare them to put if you like good metal(NOT slipknot, disturbed, puddle of mudd, etc.), and dont mind a little singing, then you will like these guys.

Standout tracks:"dead language for a dying lady", "that champagne feelng", "chadenfuede",and "the search party never came"

5.0 out of 5 stars This band is unbelievable, You have to listen to this., June 7, 2006
This review is from: Search Party Never Came (Audio CD)
This band is essentially a heavier version of chiodos. Same mentality of heavy screamo, but the heavy parts in their songs make them seem like a metalcore band. However they are not a metalcore band. I can't really find any genre they fall under. The singer sounds like Bayside's singer, but he also sounds like Saosin's singer too. If you like screamo like Saosin and u also like really heavy metalcore like winds of plague/my bitter end then this band is totally for u. They fuse the both of those types of music flawlessly. I suggest u listen to a few of their songs on myspace before buying the cd just to make sure u like them. But this is definetly worth the money of buying the cd.

1 - "A Dead Language for A Dying Lady"
Great way to start out the album. Good catchy song with the combination of screams and singing. Heavy but very melodic breakdown. The best song on the cd by far.
5/5

2 - "That Champagne Feeling"
This track is the first one that really shows of the band's talent as a metalcore band. No singing in this one, just lots of screaming. The entire song is essentially a breakdown, but pauses and variations of it in order to keep it from being boring.
5/5

3 - "I Am the Wind, You Are the Feather"
More of an emo/screamo song. Still has a breakdown in it however. A great song none the less, different from the ones before it, but still good. Great chorus chant at the end too.
5/5

4 - "Schadenfreude"
Wow, what a song man. The best metalcore one on the cd, so heavy. The song has a tough buy hardcore part in it towards the end, slowing down the breakdown, which also sounds somewhat tough guy. Still this song is totally awesome.
5/5

5 - "The Search Party Never Came"
Good singing in this one. Sounds very reminiscient to Saosin's lead singer,. Still is a screamo song, with screaming just about as much as singing. A great riff in this one too, wow just a great one. What a song man, best screamo one on the album, just hits all the best possible forms of the genre on this song.
5/5

6 - "She's A Real Battleaxe"
Great song title. Even better song, very heavy at the beginning, almost like a death metal type low scream. Then out of nowhere the song gets very soft with some singing. Then the song is combined at the end with screaming, but with a light melody. Definitly the best fusion of the two elements of the band put together. This makes this song perfect for closing the cd with.
5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Vanna rocks!, March 3, 2009
This review is from: Search Party Never Came (Audio CD)
If you are a fan of Vanna you will really like this cd. Even though this CD only has six songs it is well worth it. Vanna is able to do a great job of ranging from soft to hard vocals. In this album Vanna hits some very deep vocals that they did not hit in their other album. I would definitely say that this album is more raw than their other one. I would highly recommend this album to fans of Vanna and Bless the fall.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Search Party Never Came, April 4, 2008
Surprised by this album no doubt, vocal sounds and tempo remind me of an Army of One, Anthony Green's debut band but obviously with a heavier metalcore pulse....love it!

Vanna is a band from my homestate and they're just insane.
if you've ever had the chance to see them live, you'd know what i'm talking about. I've seen them three times and i always left with my jaw straggeling behind me. My favorite song of all time is "i am the wind, you are the feather." Evan has such a good voice and all in all the music is flawlessly transitioned from brutal to melodic with some in-betweens.
