This is such a great book, we loved it! We ended up buying another one to give as a gift w/ some gardening tools and a package of pumpkin seeds! Great book/gift!!!

"In Search of the Perfect Pumpkin" is a colorful, 32 page paperback romp with the Pucci family in their exploration of the world of pumpkins; specifically, prize-winning pie pumpkins. After trying pumpkins from Iowa, organic pumpkins, and pumpkins from the local grocery store. While results measured by brother and sister Pucci in pie eating delight were good, the search for excellence continued. Finally the father decides the family will grow their own to achieve the best ever pumpkins for pumpkin pie. "In Search of the Perfect Pumpkin" contains interesting fact about the history of pumpkins (they have been grown for food in America for over 5000 years and were unknown in Europe before Columbus -), pumpkin growing tips, and a recipe for pumpkin pie. The imaginative, slightly loopy illustrations add to the enjoyment of the book's intended audience, children ages 4-8. "In Search of the Perfect Pumpkin" is the perfect fall harvest children's book, carrying the interest through the spring growing season into the fall.
