More About the Author

So far, I've:

- owned cats, dogs, horses, gerbils, ducks, rabbits, fish, and turtles.
- volunteered at the Petrified Sea Gardens, Oregon Zoo, High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, Mystic Aquarium, and Hospice SECT.
- worked as a waitress, secretary (in many permutations), licensed massage therapist, and writer.
- petted a penguin, touched a beluga whale, rescued a skate, swam with dolphins, and babysat an Indian elephant named Belle.
- had a deeply personal conversation with a black rhino.
- lived in New York, Connecticut, Washington (state), and Oregon.
- visited all but 11 of the United States.
- visited Canada and Scotland (and spent a half-hour in Ireland).

I'm hopeless at organized sports and follow no teams. I love to bike, hike, and just take walks. I enjoy oceans, mountains, and deserts. I love all cats and most dogs (my favorite breeds are border collies and aussies).

In addition to the books listed here, I've been featured in "Amoskeag: The Journal of Southern New Hampshire University," "The Geranium Farm Cookbook," "5.5BW - Poems and Stories," and "Serve It Forth: Cooking with Anne McCaffrey." My nonfiction articles have appeared in Animal Watch - the magazine of the ASPCA, NEWN Magazine, Strides - the magazine of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, and various newspapers.

I write a semi-regular blog at www.melissacrandall.wordpress.com and have a website at www.melissacrandall.com.

At present, I'm working on a YA/Adult crossover fantasy novel. I love talking to people about writing (especially kids and teens interested in the craft) and am available for interviews, book signings, readings, conventions and workshops. I love to travel!

I live in New England with her husband and two cats - the elusive Gypsy and surfer-dude Tuna.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book., June 18, 1998
By A Customer
This book is superb in every aspect. The story is written well and keeps your interest. I had a hard time putting this one down. The author really knows her two main characters(Sam and Al) and how they really interact with each other and their supporting cast. This book really reminded me of the t.v. show. I have read all of the books to date and not only is this the most emotional of them all; It is the one I enjoyed the most.

This book kept the characters true to the tv series. It has a great storyline too. I've read most of the Quantum Leap novels and this is my favorite!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, February 15, 2002

I absolutely loved it, and not just because I'm Canadian and it took place in Canada. It was just a great read. It had an interesting plot, and the author kept the characters, well, in character. I loved the whole native animal spirits thing. For once it was nature, instead of technology, that helped Al and Sam complete the leap. I highly recommend this book.
