Strange compilation... that works out,
By
This review is from: Search for the Soul: A Meditative Journey (Audio CD)
I ran into this eclectic compilation of ambient, electronic and lounge works by pure accident, and found it to be quite odd at first. How else would you throw into the same album Hans Zimmer (mostly electronic work) and Alberto Iglesias (mostly orchestral work)? The truth is that, as electic as the lineup may seem, it works out. For meditation? I don't know: you be the judge of that, but it certainly flows seamlessly from song to song, and chances are it may also send you on a special musical discovery trip, to dig more about some of the lesser known artists in here. I know it did that for me with Cyril Morin and Mychael Danna (Monsoon Wedding). So, enjoy the ride...

"themes for serious meditation ~ Milan Records",
This review is from: Search for the Soul: A Meditative Journey (Audio CD)
Milan Records presents "Search for the Soul: A Meditative Journey", a compilation taken from albums and soundtracks...each track has the rare gift of capturing the essence through Milan's compilations...they reach out a touch the listener's inner being...just sit back and behold each magical cue...the music will draw you in and take you to places and times before you were born and lays them before you...each composer and artist musical brilliance will mesmerize and entertain you with a sweet after taste.
Sample themes that are still popular in some remote circles even today...Angelo, Agricantus, Manon, Cyril Morin, Hans Zimmer, Klaus Badelt, Julio Black, Gilles Lavannant, Pinapple Corner, Anelo Feat Manon, Dream Electro Feat Gabriella, Alberto Iglesias, Hipnoize, Nuspirit Helsinki, Jacky Jayet...created individual melodies within a melody...strings, percussion and vocal cues are moody and at times powerful...rare performances and talent can quench the thirst of many a "film-score-buff". One can hardly pick a stand out...entire album draws on slow tempos with blends of original sentiment...gorgeous melodies and arrangements with tender loving care prevail...orchestration serves up a serenely unforgettable performance...every cue sneaks into your head and you're loving every minute of it...just open your mind and most importantly, your heart and let it wash over you...just the way we like 'em! Total Time: 53:44 on 14 Tracks ~ Milan Records 36104 ~ (3/01/2005)
