Flawless Trance from Tiësto, September 26, 2004
In Search of Sunrise is remarkable. Track after track the sweetness just refuses to leave me alone. The opening is epic and makes me get goosebumps. Tiësto has a made a powerhouse of an album. This CD is ridiculously satisfying to drive to. Oh man, Tiësto is just the man. Calling Your Name is bliss. All of the Sunrises and all of the Magiks must be heard. But this one -this is absolute essential trance. No one can top this.
Best Tracks on this CD:

Yes, it's that good..., August 19, 2005
I must admit that when I first played this I began to worry that it would turn into typical techno drivel so common today. Y'know, get a bit going on a drum machine, throw in a few keyboard riffs, some angelic divas singing and call it "trance".
But I gave it a chance (I'm listening to it now). I see what all the fuss is about. Tiesto obviously knows his game. Just when it seems as if he's about to let the music go nowhere he drops in a surprise or two.
Sure you'll find the best of trance - the spooky keyboards, the ethereal voices, the obligatory happy sound - but he makes it work so that it doesn't sound like the big cheese that techno has become (y'know silly kids with Day-Glo and whistles). No, this is really good stuff with a beautiful title that really sums it up.

excellent mix, September 9, 2000
This review is from: In Search of Sunrise (Audio CD)
Dj Tiesto weaves an excellent melodic experience in this thirteen song, sixty-four minute opus by one of the trance scene's best djs. Tracks like York's "The Reachers of Civilization" and Marc Vision "Time Gate" help bring to this album an ethereal atmosphere and lay down an rhythm and beat that's nothing short of infectious. On the other hand, I'd have to say this work is slightly marred by weaker tracks like Billy Ray Martin's "Honey", which has a strong vocal component that - while certainly welcome - doesn't quite pull through for me. The vocals distract from, rather than add to, the overall feeling of the album. Take note, though, that the opinion on the vocals is certainly mine only, and that you might feel completely differently. To each his own, but I feel that it's a part of Tiesto's mix I should mention. Another thing is that I'd like to take some issue with the reviewers that say they've been throwing away their "Paul van Dyk and ATB cds" after hearing this disc. While I feel that both Paul van Dyk and ATB are excellent DJs (though ive heard less of ATB's mixing), their published work consists mainly of original productions, which you can't really compare to a mixed album like Tiesto's. So to be fair, my own position on this, is that I love them all, and when I'm dancing under the sky, smiling like theres no tomorrow, such comparisons are rendered irrelevant. Enjoy the disc, I did.
