5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Indiana Jones....(This is True)
After reading this book you will want to search for the Ark; if not traveling around the world, at least from the comfort of your home with your computer. I couldn't put it down. Great Book!

2.0 out of 5 stars Price Stands Alone, April 29, 2006

Virgil Brown (White Oak, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: In Search of Temple Treasures: The Lost Ark and the Last Days (Paperback)
I am reminded of a poem called The Creation Story which begins: " And God stepped out on space..." Where does one find firm ground when the author claims to be grounded in a literal interpretation of the book sacred to us all? But Randall Price assumes his images as he sees fit. In the early 90's he and Vendyll Jones assumed the image of the movie character Indiana Jones. Claims were even made that they were the real life characters upon whom the movie characters were based. Price has put on a few pounds and business suit since the early 90's whereas Harrison Ford has not. So Price has changed his image.

On one hand Price has a couple of prestigious degrees, a Masters degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a doctorate in archaeology from the University of Texas at Austin.
On the other hand, Price has not rated the attention of other scholars. The reason for that is that Price has created the image that he wants from the Bible. Archaeology is about things like stones that can be interpreted not just by one, but by the firm ground that all can stand on.

Price argues for the whereabouts of the temple treasures based upon his own ideas about what the Bible says. He is unchallanged by other archaeologists because Price stands alone. And there's something to be said about that. Sometimes one hears the story of the singular genius. But even Einstein learned from others.
