4.0 out of 5 stars Gives you a lot to think about
A very interesting book that really lets you get in tune with the reality of riding. It is not just a hobby, or sport it really can have an affect on you. This book shows you how to relax, be in tune with your horse, and it lets you understand that you and your horse do feed off eachother. If you are calm and relaxed, your horse will feel that and do the same. I...

2.0 out of 5 stars A longer rehash of Beyond the Mirrors
I read Beyond the Mirrors loving the short, concise way the author explained her theories and provided additional food for thought. I picked up In Search of Your Image hoping the author would expand on her concepts presented in the previous book. I was dissapointed.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read Beyond the Mirrors loving the short, concise way the author explained her theories and provided additional food for thought. I picked up In Search of Your Image hoping the author would expand on her concepts presented in the previous book. I was dissapointed.

One of the first things that struck me was the author's continued references to a "workbook" when a search on Amazon.com and google did not turn up such a workbook for sale. Because the author refers to excercises in the workbook, but does not provide the means for the reader to duplicate the exercises in another notebook or journal, makes the excercises nearly useless.

Secondly, I felt as if I were getting a rehash of Beyond the Mirrors. Over and over and over again. The repetitive nature of the book tended to bore this reader, and while I usually devour anything having to do with horses and horsemanship, I found my attention wandering.

Her other title is a much better, much clearer explanation of her thoughts and theories. I doubt I'll be checking into this author's other works.

I recommend it for any serious rider... with a lot of experience, or little. There is always something to learn and be aware of.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time, July 23, 2004

I found this book unreadable and in need of professional editing. The author continually references "Your workbook" which is not included. I found it annoying and of no value whatsoever. Save your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the negative reviews, June 12, 2009
This review is from: In Search of Your Image: A Practical Guide to the Mental and Spiritual Aspects of Horsemanship (Paperback)
Had the reviewers who gave this book a negative review spent 5 minutes searching for this author they would have found the organization which she helped found, Equestrian Education Systems, Inc.

In light of that, another mouse click and they would have found the workbook she references in this text.

In many ways she's doing what Molly Sivewright has done: address thinking about riding.

A worthy book by a wonderful author. I suggest this and others. Find the workbook.

Think of it as a way to use your horse as a basis for integrating your life.
