1.0 out of 5 stars Pretentious and Silly
This album blew. The lyrics are childish and the music is derivative. I love all of the bands Amazon has hooked this album up with, but the recommendations are misleading -- despite the 5 starts, this CD is a waste of money.

Hednoize manages to take elements of Depeche Mode, The Cure, and their own inherent talent to make an incredible album. On a 3-hour drive I made a bit ago, all I found myself needing was this album on repeat. Quite seriously, everything on this album is fantastic. Listen to the sample tracks, take a chance in buying the album, and you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Searching for the End is one of a kind, April 26, 2000

I've been a follower of Daniel Lenz since I found Psycksonik's "Unlearn" in a used CD sales rack. Hednoize carries his name well. If your looking for an industrial techno sound, you won't find it on this CD, but if your looking for a one of a kind sound, then Hednoize is for you. Lenz's specail style of music was well continued onto this CD. I had never heard of Free until "Searching for the End" came out, he's really good. I hope that these to artists continue to work together.

How does "a Depeche Mode for the new millenium" sound? Pretty pretentious, eh? Well, that's all I could think of as I listened to this excellent new band. I hear Depeche influences in a lot of stuff out there today, but this really sounds to me like what the Mode would sound like if they reinvented themselves for the year 2000. Lots of dark, atmospheric keyboard textures mixed with hard, but not metal, guitars - think Stabbing Westward without the abrasive edge (although a few songs do tread that ground). Check out the sound samples - the whole album is that good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Drivin' somewhere, out of nowhere......, December 19, 2002

Seems to be my life story.... This is another one of the greatest bands that has gone unknown(see Black Lab & Cool For August). If you like Depeche with a twist, I advise to purchase this 1 immediately! I've had this cd ever since the 3000 Miles to Graceland soundtrack was available, you will not regret it. These guys still rock, & it's been, what, 2 or 3 years since? It is a good break from all of the teeny boppin' bullshiat that is out today. It is the next step from Psykosonik.

4.0 out of 5 stars Innovative synthpop/electronic with a twist..........., September 11, 2002

When it comes to synthpop/electronic genre, this is as close as what I call "innovative" music as it can be. HEDNOIZE not only has managed to invent a unique blend between synthesizers and alternative music, they also has infused a touch of modernism sound in their music.

HEDNOIZE's basic music is not far from that of Depeche Mode; however, they creatively incorporated 'modern sound/future sound' in their music.

This is not a straight electronic/synthpop album, HEDNOIZE music is a bit edgier and darker. Imagine "Depeche Mode" meets "Nine Inch Nail" meets "Pink Floyd" (as other reviewer has also mentioned it here). It's electronica meets synthesizers meets alternative rock meets future sound.

Definitely worth to check it out !! Peace !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Energetic and groovy..., April 3, 2000

When I first heard the song "Loaded Gun" on the soundtrack to the television series "La Femme Nikita" almost two or three years ago, I knew from that moment that Hednoize was a band to pay attention to (since then, that song's been featured in "3,000 Miles to Graceland"). I read in an article that their album "Searching for the End" would be released soon. Little did I know that it would take me a year to find it. But now that I have, I have to say I am not disappointed. In the simplest explanation, the music of Hednoize can best be described as a more ambient male-vocal version of Curve. Danceable electronic pulses atop atmospheric synthesizers and guitar rhythms, with the vocals buried in a mysterious mix of echoes and ambient wails. This is a far cry from the sound of other Wax Trax groups like KMFDM and My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult. This entire album has the quality of a soundtrack album, but with an approachable pop sensibility. This is industrial groove music. It's infectious and at times ethereal and sensual. The vocals are very smooth and airy, almost jazzy. The lyrics aren't impressive, but they serve their purpose. The best tracks are "Loaded Gun," "Devil's Train," "Drain," and "Pay Me No Mind." Nothing new or very original, it's just a very well-made, well-produced album with some good music. Worth checking out, and definitely shows signs of potential to become bigger and better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply put this was a good album, lacking the exposure they desereved., December 1, 2011
This review is from: Searching for End (Audio CD)
After the breakup of Psychosonic emerged Daniel Lenz's and his new band Hednoize. This is a different approach to what they were doing in the past. To start off this is a well produced album from start to finish, it has a cool landscape of sounds and catchy dark melodies. It does have a little bit of an Electronic Industrial type feel but still get's away with sounding like a Depeche Mode album that should have been if DM grew a pair of nuts. My biggest problem I have always had with Psychosonic and Hednoize and Daniels bands is the cheesy album covers and the images. If I were to see this in a CD store I would probably walk on past it not knowing this has great music behind it. Yes the album cover is stupid, their I said it... lol! Honestly this is a good album and kind-of wish they would take it a bit more serious and do a couple of albums and do a real tour. Seem the minute Psychosonic became a band they broke up just as quick. Why am I writing about this album I have no clue?

For what it's worth this is a good album, with a hokey album cover. If you like hard Industrial music like Skinny Puppy, Leather Strip or Ministry your probably not going to like this cause it's a bit pretty boy vocals like Depeche Mode. I like the harder stuff but I like a lot of music. So there you go!

Devils Train is probably the hit song on the album so that should give a sense of what the rest of the album will be like.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Most, February 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Searching for End (Audio CD)
This is without a doubt the best thing that Daniel Lenz and Brent Daniels have or ever will produce and I can say that with full confidence just having listened to both of Psykosonik's albums and all of Basic Pleasure Models' music that was available on the net. Daniel Lenz's new album "Stuck in a Dream" was decent but a little more techno driven then I personally care for. This could've been a five star album but having heard the capabilities of songs such as "woven, "pay me no mind", and "the road" I believe it could've been much better.

Searching For The End is definitely an album worth owning if you enjoy slow industrial music or have enjoyed any previous efforts of Mr. Lenz or Mr. Daniels. As forementioned tracks 2, 9 and 11 are my personal favorites.

If you do come to find an appreciation for this album I would highly recommend you look into the group known as Professional Murder Music. Although they're slightly more metal than Hednoize they have an incredibly similar sound.
Your welcome, trust me...
