From Library Journal
Like others in the "Internet Workshop" series, this work reports an actual workshop, including Gould's "lectures, demonstrations, exercises, and handouts." As such, it is especially valuable as a self-study course for individuals wishing to improve their web searching skills and a model for trainers wishing to teach workshops on Internet searching. A trainer for Library Solutions, Gould presents clear, concise, well-organized information aimed at readers with slight to moderate web experience. Topics covered include a general description of the web (terminology, URLs, HTML, etc.) and general information about search tools and basic searching; evaluating web resources; formulating a search strategy; locating and using specialized web sources; and managing bookmarks/favorites. Appendixes include a guide to the web browser screen and tip sheets comparing features of search engines. The accompanying diskette contains Netscape bookmarks and Internet Explorer favorites used in various exercises. Recommended.?Janet Crum, Oregon Health Sciences Univ. Lib., Portland, OR
