Decent,

Deety book nerd: Was it really necessary to put a spoiler in your review, and ruin the impact of this book for everyone else? You didn't rate the book - fine, but what you've done is deplorable and juvenile.
To everyone else, I thought this was okay until the admittedly wacky and strange climax. The writing style is breezy, and there is some decent mystery that is wrapped up by the end. If this is the first review you're reading - DO NOT read the review by "Deety book nerd", since he'll spoil the plot for you.

This book is awful!,
By Donna "book nerd" (Raleigh, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Searing (Hardcover)
A mysterious force is killing little girls in Renaissance Village. It's also giving the women in the area spontaneous orgasms. I'm not joking. That is actually the plot of this book. It's full of badly-written red herrings, wrong science, and a twist toward ancient mysticism at the end. All of the characters are frustrating in one way or another. Oh, yeah, and in the end there's aliens. Reading this book was nearly painful. Don't waste your money.

One of the Best Horror Novelist of the 1980s,

This review is from: The Searing (Necon Classic Horror) (Kindle Edition)
What book were you reading Donna? I am referring to the review by Donna with one star and the awful write-up. I grew-up reading horror during the 1970s and 1980s and John Coyne was one of the giants in the horror genre. The Piercing and The Searing were definite favorites of mine. I can still remember buying this hardcover at a B. Dalton's bookstore in the San Fernando Valley in California when it was first published. I even have a signed first edition hardcover of The Searing. This novel is definitely worth your time! NECON, the publisher of this e-book is run by Bob Booth, who has an annual convention by the same name, and who re-publishing horror from the heyday of horror - the 1980s. He made an excellent here.
