5.0 out of 5 stars Escape to the seascape
This is an absolutely excellent CD. I have had this CD since 1989 and have been through three CDs and two tapes. I have taken this CD w/ me on cruises and many, many vacations to California and Florida. I experience many wonderful memories when I play this CD. I so loved it the first time I heard it (1989) that I vowed to have it playing at my wedding and in 1996 I did...

3.0 out of 5 stars CD Packaging
Although packaging for CD was in place the case for the CD was cracked when it arrived. Obviously when shipped the case was already cracked, and the packager must have know this. Somewhat disappointed to receive damaged material from Amazon.

I so loved it the first time I heard it (1989) that I vowed to have it playing at my wedding and in 1996 I did just that. Take it from me, if you do not purchase any other instrumental music CDs, purchase this one! Enjoy this CD and may you make many "seascape" memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a must-have for anyone's New Age piano collection, September 17, 2002
This review is from: Seascapes (Audio CD)
I love these piano compositions. They are distinguished from others of the New Age piano genre by their length and complexity--sounding almost like a symphonic tone poem for solo piano. Mr. Jones is an extremely talented composer and performer, and this CD is a real classic.

This is Michael Jones' difinitive work. It is inspirational and imaginative. I believe this is the greatest single New Age piano album. I can recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone with taste for good music. Michael Jones takes us on a journey with images and senses which envelop the listener in the scene. It is wonderful!!

5.0 out of 5 stars 10 years of magic, February 5, 2003
This review is from: Seascapes (Audio CD)
I have had this CD for 10 years, and it is still my favourite above all. The music enables you to shut your eyes to both remember the past and plan for the future. If you like quiet piano music, this CD is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Time To Rest, A Time To Listen, March 22, 2005
This review is from: Seascapes (Audio CD)
I've been listening to this recording for a month now with an eye to reviewing it. There was always something else to review first. In my book, if something stands up to a month of listening, it's pretty good.

Seascapes is one of Jones earlier albums. As Jones developed he became more melody oriented, but his earlier work has a lighter, almost jazzy touch. There is more experimentation and "going with the music" than what was to come. This isn't a criticism of what he became, but Seascapes offers a vision all its own.

Listen to Solitude, or Beyond the Dream. It sounds improvisational, even if it isn't. And the silences are just as important as the music. This a lot is more than just sophisticated elevator music, or New Age meditation music. Jones, and fellow pianist George Winston, is at the forefront of this kind of style, and well worth listening to. I know the titles are a bit pretentious, but the artistry is there never the less.

If you are into relaxing music after a hard day`s work... this would be the perfect accompaniment! I never get tired of listening to this particular CD --- it`s like doing Yoga -- puts you into a different realm ... a better perspective ... great to reflect on especially when you`re alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nobody like Michael Jones, November 30, 2001

There is nobody like him. I listen to his CDs at the office to relax myself from stress. Michael Jones is little known, but the best piano player. Buy this and his other CDs if you like relaxing music. There's nothing else like it out there.

This is one of my favorite CDs. I'm getting ready to buy it for the second time (I lost my first copy). I'm not normally a fan of instrumental music - I'm a classic rock fan - however I absolutely love how relaxing this piano music is. I highly recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music for Inner Exploration & Solice, October 21, 2009
This review is from: Seascapes (Audio CD)
Seascapes by Michael Jones is a hidden treausre. Whether for general relaxation or for putting your nature walks/outings to music, the sounds of Seascapes are always pleasantly haunting. I have listened to Seascapes for miles and miles of coastal hiking through redwoods, over sand dunes and across acres of scenic shoreline and have never grown tired of this unique piano music.

In 1995, I asked the church to play this CD as background music at a gathering of friends after my Mother's memorial servies. It was just audible, the piano of Michael Jones lightly filling the hall. At one point, I overheard a woman who had been aquainted with my Mother suddenly stop, look up and remark "my . . . this music is just so wonderful." And it is!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite instrumental music ever, July 31, 2009
This review is from: Seascapes (Audio CD)
I own and have tried a ton of different instrumental music and always come back to this beautiful album. It's like the soundtrack to my life measured in quiet times. I haven't found any better piano solos that I love to listen to as much. Definitely something you should have in your library.
