Keyboard: I love the size. I'd been looking at 13.3-inch laptops but this one was a great compromise. My fingers fly across this keyboard with ease.
Screen: I was surprised by the quality of the screen. Nice and bright. Movies look great on this. The 720P resolution turn out great for writing. There's just enough room for everything I need on screen (main text body in the center, list of chapters on the left, and online dictionary/thesaurus tools on the right).
Battery Life: Having seen this netbook running Ubuntu, I can say for certain that Ubuntu squeezes at least 60 extra minutes out of the battery, if not two hours. However, I still get a solid five to six hours in Windows 7, and I haven't dug into services to turn off stuff I don't need (except for Indexing).
Weight: As advertised, but one thing took me some getting used to. If you are sitting in a chair with this netbook in your laptop, say across your thighs, the weight of the screen wants to pull the netbook away from you. At first, it may feel like the netbook is going to tumble over your knees to the floor, but it won't go anywhere. The front of the base will indeed lift up and away from your legs if you're sitting just the right angle on a chair, but it won't fall. Having said that, only one of the many chairs in my house does this (it has absolutely no tilt, the chair is perfectly level). This didn't bother me, and doesn't warrant me reducing the rating. Otherwise, it's light but has enough weight to still feel sturdy.Read more ›
1. The ATI Radeon Graphics Card (4250) would allow me to have no problem streaming MLB games and Netflix videos.
2. Windows Home Premium (instead of starter) was loaded on the unit.
3. 2GB of DDR3 Ram
4. Strong Wirelesas (B/G/N) Atheros Adapter.
5. The AMD Neo Chip (1.7GHZ) was much faster than the Intel ION Processer.
6. HDMI port to hook up to my Sony Bravia HDTV.
7. 3 USB Ports
8. Only 3.21 pounds.
I've owned this so-called netbook for 3 days and it is almost as fast as my 2 other laptops (desktop replacements), which cost 3 times more than this unit.
What I didn't like:
1.There was some bloatware on this unit, which I had to research to find out what function it performed before I removed it.
2. It was difficult for me to vertically scroll down. I resolved this by going into the settings on the Synaptics Pointing Device - Wheel - Roll the Wheel one notch to scroll - and changed it to one screen at a time. This made vertical scrolling much easier.
3. The battery only began charging after it fell below 95%. No big deal I suppose.
I wanted a light ultraportable notebook for fast mobile web browsing. The price was right and so far performance is very good.
Small and lightweight
Fast enough for daily, ad hoc tasks
Keyboard isn't as crunched as a normal netbook. It is comfortable to type
Huge hard drive
4 hour battery life
I don't really have any cons. I did a lot of research before I bought this computer, so it is exactly what I wanted and I don't have any problems with it yet. I don't need 3 GB of RAM, 2 GB is more than enough. 320 GB hard drive is plenty. I have a desktop computer that has a 150 GB hard drive. I have had this computer for 5 years and it isn't even half full.
Perfect laptop. If you aren't expecting a mainframe, this is perfect for traveling and while computing on the couch.
I loaded Unbuntu AMD/64 32 bit will not work. Everything worked right out of the box. I was completely satisfied that a Linux distribution worked without installation of additional drivers.
Here are some pros and cons...
Overall size is perfect. The display is great and I can even plug into my HD television and watch streaming video.
Pretty good quality
HDMI port is a must
Processor speed is good
Battery life is approx 4 hrs. give or take.
Keyboard is soft - I like the feel of a solid keyboard
AC adapter into the netbook is very fragile - be very careful when plugging.
Overall I very please with the performance of the computer and love the fact that Linux works so well.
