Book Description

Elfen Gold March 2, 2005
What could an ancient Crystal, the salvation of the Elfen Race of Ra-Jee, and two from the future have in common?

Ancient magic weaves its web throughout the story, bringing characters, events, and places together to accomplish its goal.whether they are willing or not.

The Elfen Race of Ra-Jee is in jeopardy--in danger of becoming merely a memory. But destiny in the form of an Ancient Crystal has decreed that one young Elfen maiden, Ra-May, and one human male, Michall, must meet, and in that meeting, venture forward to vanquish the evil that has tainted Ra-Jee--or die trying.

Accompanied by Ra-May's Guardian, an Elfen Warrior named Ra-Nu, and Michall's mischievous kin, Phillip, they set out to challenge the Del-a-Shar who has enchanted Ra-Jee and stolen away the Elfen Race.

Ancient magic, awakened and set free once again, weaves its web throughout the story, bringing characters, events, and places together to accomplish its goal--whether they are willing or not.

Sime-Gen Reviews
5 Stars ~ ELFEN GOLD is a compelling fantasy that will make Sheri L. McGathy a household name among genre fans. The story line is fast-paced and filled with magic, but the heroine is still allowed time to fully develop as a character so that readers can appreciate her quest. Clearly the magic's in the words as readers will believe in elven realms as described by Ms. McGathy, who is either a descendant or an honored visitor of the Ra-Jee.

Elfen Gold
ELFEN GOLD shimmers with magical enchantment. This deftly-woven tale delights with its charming characters and lyrical descriptive passages. Here is a world of mystical beauty and dark danger. Fans of sorcery, fantasy or simply being immersed in another fictional world shouldn't miss this book.

Five Stars! ELFEN GOLD is a truly magical "fairy" tale with well-developed characters brought vividly to life. The reader feels the true evil of Del-a-Shar and the love and pride Ra-Nu feels for Ra-May. The descriptive narrative brings the surroundings vividly to life; the reader can almost hear Ar-Ion's footsteps as he paces awaiting Ra-May's birth. ELFEN GOLD is enchanting, vibrant and entertaining with just the right touch of suspense. The plot and setting were new and refreshing to me. Ms. McGathy's writing flows smoothly from one chapter to the next, holding the reader captive till the last page is turned. I felt like a young girl experiencing my first fairy tale all over again. Sheri McGathy's vivid imagination shines through. Definitely an author to keep an eye on. ELFEN GOLD is a wonderful way to spend a rainy afternoon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Fantasy!, April 7, 2005
This review is from: The Season of Gold - Elfen Gold Book One (Paperback)
Personally, I love Sheri L. McGathy's writing style. In her latest work, she does not disappoint. We have a story of a lonely Prince and an Elfen Princess. When these two meet at the party given for Prince Michall's Birthing-day ceremony, they know there were fated to be together. Unfortunately, our Princess Ra-May has something she feels compelled to accomplish. She must bring back the kingdom of her people. And so, they leave to accomplish this, having no idea of where or when or how. Of course, they don't go alone. They are accompanied by Ra-Nu, Ra-May's guardian, and Phillip, Michall's happy-go-lucky cousin.

I found myself, once again, getting caught up in the poetry of Sheri McGathy's words. The characters are all winningly portrayed and remain true unto themselves, the storyline will entrap you as it did me. And underneath it all lies a story. Having read the first book of this story, I can't wait for the next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story, great author . . . want to hurt the publisher!, July 30, 2009

The Season of Gold is a wonderful story, that keeps you turning the page whether you need to go to bed or not. The characters are well developed and likeable. My only complaint is not with the author, but the publisher, since there can be no way that Sheri McGathy wrote half this story (Season of Gold) and then stopped in the middle and said, hmmmm, that is the end of the story. I have to believe that the publisher decided 2 books would bring in more money than one and divided this one story into two books. Quite frustrating. I don't mind buying multiple books in a series (in fact, I love series), but I would like the whole story in one book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A tale to enhance the imagination!, February 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Season of Gold - Elfen Gold Book One (Paperback)
The Season of Gold and The Season of Silver are fantasy from beginning to end; filled with mystery, enchantment, time-travel, and a wonderful interaction between characters. Unlike some authors that ground their fantasy too solidly within the world as we know it, Sheri McGathy allows her writing to take that next step into our imagination. Beyond the day to day boundaries of what must be, she takes us to a place in the realm of imagination where we can hope that what we dream just might be. We can allow our imagination to peer into our hopes, wishes, and yes our fears; all this within a magical realm of humans and elves.

The love and intertwined essences of the two main characters, the elf Ra-May and the human Michall is so strong it pulls together and adds strength to everyone they meet. As these two heroes travel with their companions, there are multi-threaded tales that take place throughout the one main storyline. These sub-storylines are a fascination in themselves, leaving the reader wondering how they can ever meet up with the other storylines. However Sheri McGathy twines them all together in a fantastic way that has the reader saying I should have known. All the wonder and thrill of this fantasy is told from a third-person perspective; by a storyteller who adds an unusual twist to how the story is told. The Season of Gold and The Season of Silver are wonderfully crafted books which are exceptional reads.
