From Library Journal
This trio of snow-laden, holly-bedecked novellas provides a little bit of English holiday tradition for everyone from the homey stirring of the Regency Christmas pudding and the simple Yuletide customs of a rustic medieval inn to the boldly colorful, elaborate feasts and entertainments of the Tudor nobility. Appealing protagonists, simple but effective plots, and well-done secondary characters add to the charm of this collection, which is also somewhat unusual in that the stories are more focused on couples rather than family and children. A battle-weary soldier home from the Napoleonic Wars is determined to find and reclaim the woman he loves in Paul's heartwarming, emotionally involving Regency, "A Promise To Keep"; an innkeeper's daughter struggles with both finances and her feelings for a traveling minstrel who is more than he seems in Shari Anton's medieval tale, "Christmas at Wayfarer Inn"; and a wealthy knight sets out to put a difficult, outspoken but inwardly insecure noblewoman in her place and instead falls in love with her in Tori Phillips's especially memorable "Twelfth Knight," a lively, delightful blend of The Taming of the Shrew and "The Twelve Days of Christmas." Most fans of historicals should find something they like.
