Reviews

"I was skeptical about this novel. Would I really be able to get drawn in to a story about a band of renegades trying to save the world's food supply? Well, the short answer is yes. I was completely engrossed from the very beginning. Season of the Harvest is smart and funny and wild and frightening and really, really scarily believable." - Reviewer Elizabeth Schulenburg

"This novel is a delicious treat for those who like action and adventure. It is a science fiction novel that is at once contemporary and reminiscent of the great novels that have bejeweled the genre through the years. It is a cautionary tale that will haunt the reader, and invite us all to think twice about the simple decisions we make every day." - Author Dan Moore

"Season of the Harvest was smart, entertaining, and believable. If you enjoy your Sci-fi novels and/or thrillers check this book out and then hang on to the edge of your seat, because that is where you will be perched until you hit the last page!" - Moonlit Dreams

If you enjoy stories by James Rollins, Michael Crichton, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, get ready to strap yourself in for a roller coaster ride of terrifying adventure...

You Are What You Eat

At a genetics lab where a revolutionary strain of corn is being developed, FBI Special Agent Jack Dawson's best friend and fellow agent is brutally murdered, his body torn apart.

Jack is convinced that Naomi Perrault, a beautiful geneticist and suspected terrorist, is behind the murder. But when Jack is framed for setting off a bomb that devastates the FBI lab in Quantico, Naomi becomes Jack's only hope of survival.

Confronted by the terrifying truth of what the genetically engineered seeds stolen by his friend are truly for and who is really behind them, Jack joins Naomi in a desperate fight across half the globe to save humanity from extermination...

More Praise From Reviewers

"Hicks tells this story as part X-Files, part CSI and part Jason Bourne. And it works." - The Kudzu Corner

"If you've got a taste for conspiracy theories, then this book is a perfect read. A science fiction fan couldn't ask for anything better. Aliens, action, suspense, even a touch of romance -- Hicks does it all." - The Guilded Quill

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! February 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
(This review is for the Kindle Edition)
Be ready to read late into the night on this one. Nonstop action from the get-go. Hicks is an accomplished writer-his earlier "In Her Name " series is top notch science fiction/fantasy/romance and already a fan favorite. This new novel is an entirely different type of techno-thriller; tightly written with believable characters, fast paced, and well researched. It is a story of today and the unintended consequences that might occur when foods are genetically "engineered" and released into the environment. Enough said- no spoilers here!
An excellent read. Well edited, proofed, and formatted for the Kindle and the excellent cover art was created by the author. Bravo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hicks does it again February 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
What has he done again? Kept me up until 2am finishing one of his books.

Season of the Harvest is an edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting, page-turner. The story gripped me from the beginning and the characters became real to me right away.

There are heart-wrenching deaths, epic battles, unexpected survival, and more twists and turns than a corkscrew.

I honestly don't know what to say about this book except ... read it. It's one of the best thrillers I've ever read and I will be reading it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best I have read this year! February 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I admit that I am already a Mike Hicks fan.
His In Her Name series of SciFi thrillers is great.
But this book is something different and fabulous.
It is a little hard to talk about it without revealing stuff that the reader will want to discover by themselves.
But let me say that if you like Michael Crichton - you will love this.
If you like Lee Child - you will probably also love this.
There are many other comparisons that I could make but the best advice is to purchase the book and read it for yourself. You will soon be back here writing your own review praising this work.
I have a some knowledge of a couple of the infrastuctures that are written about in this book and he hits them dead-on This is realism mixed with a current issue mixed with some "could-happen" and is exciting.

Just sayin.....

Season Of The Harvest for 15 year old?
Momimi - Great question! My wife and I are fairly persnickity about what we let our own boys read, and we decided that SEASON OF THE HARVEST would be okay for our elder son, who had just turned 15 (and he happened to enjoy it so much he's been bugging me like crazy for a sequel). However, keep in... Read more
