The best way to classify October Fall's music is as power piano pop. Their best songs are the ones where the piano (not a synth-type sound) drives the melody (Hey, Hey; Second Chances; Caught In The Rain). On the whole this is a pretty good album, but lacks the caustic lyrics of their previous efforts. The lyrics are still good, and as the previous reviewer states, shows potential. The best track on the album is the third one, Dreaming Upside Down. The lyrics are insightful and vague enough to mean different things to different people, in my opinion, the benchmark of a really good song. The piano adds emotion, especially the female vocalists performance. The other song that stands out is the final track, If We Are All Alone, Aren't We In This Together. This is a classic final track song, building from a slower start to a crashing finish. The musicianship on this song is well done, and the lyrics are biting in places.
My only dissapointment with this album are the slower songs, Tracks 5 & 6. They seem a little out of their element and the songs come across as a little forced. Overall, this is a good album, though it is certainly a pop album, should attract fans of other genres.

October Fall has a polished emo/pop sound, somewhere between Click Five and the Back Street Boys. When their stuff works, it works well. The best cut here is probably "Caught in the Rain," a high-energy blaster reminiscent of John Eddie's "Jungle Boy" and Fall Out Boy's "Sugar We're Goin Down" (the latter being one of the best single tracks of the past five years). Also good are "Keep Dreaming Upside Down" and "Walking." Most of the other cuts fall short of the mark. "Tongue Tied" for example starts off with the intent of an old-fashioned pop ballad but does not live up to the wonderful piano intro. All in all, a band with lots of potential, with seemingly good songwriting skills. Hopefully they will steer away from emo and more toward power pop, where they seem to have the most promise.

They've come a long way in the past year...this CD is worth the buy. Much in similarity to Fall Out Boy, probably because Fall Out Boy's bassist, Pete Wentz was the one who discovered them.
This album is a alot different from their older stuff, warn you. It's alot more poppy, with guest vocals from Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy) and Hayley Williams (Paramore).

If Something Corporate, Fall Out Boy and Panic At The Disco had a child it would be October Fall. They aren't as good as the afformentioned bands, but they're pretty cool. The money is worth it for the cd. Songs like "Second Chances" Caught in the Rain" "Walking" Keep it Comin'" make the cd solid.

I absolutely LOVE this album. I first heard of them a couple months ago,and i've been obsessed ever since. They have lyrics that actually have depth behind it. Even now, i listened to the CD yesterday and i don't skip any tracks. usually for me, after i listen to songs over and over, i begin to get tired of them, but that doesn't happen with this CD. It is definetly worth the money you pay!!
