I disagree with the two other reviewers regarding this CD. I bought Season of Mists shortly after the release date and still find it calms my soul. My favorite cut is "Glenglass" by Wolfstone. I agree that plenty of the songs border on New Age, but I hear pleasant Celtic overtones throughout. Not everyone wants to get up and do a jig everytime an Irish song plays. Irish beauty does live here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD!, December 15, 1999

I borrowed this from my husband as a last minute CD to play at our Thanksgiving dinner this year for background/mood music. It was incredible! Very very nice and relaxing. I have played it many times since.

3.0 out of 5 stars + 1/2 Stars...Pleasant Mood Music, August 2, 2001
This review is from: Season of Mists: Collection of Celtic Moods (Audio CD)
This is probably my least favorite of the half dozen or so Celtophile collections from Green Linnet that I have purchased over the past several years. I suppose the "Season of Mists" title should have been more of a clue as to the music contained on this CD. While the cover says "A collection of Celtic Moods," there is only one mood here--somber. Each artists is represented by a song that is very soothing and relaxing. As such, it makes fine background music for a quiet dinner or if you're trying to create a romantic atmosphere. Frequently the music comes very close to crossing the line into new age music. [Not a crticism, just an observation.] Especially affecting songs are "Miss Gordon of Gight" by the harp duo Sileas and "Marcus Hernon's Air" by flautist Joanie Madden who also fronts the all-female Celtic group Cherish the Ladies. Total Running Time: 46:51
