4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, March 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: A Season For Samantha (Zebra Regency Romance) (Paperback)
This is a sweet little story, seemingly obvious at first but gets better as it goes along, there's more to it than meets the eye! It's a fun story and the characters are like-able, if not a little foolish for getting themselves into this mess. Of course it all turns out in the end, but it's a fun journey in the meantime.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too obvious, but still a good story., March 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: A Season For Samantha (Zebra Regency Romance) (Paperback)
Country orphan Samantha Bennings had to run away from home. Stopping at the Two Feathers Inn, she met Lady Olivia Tarrington who was being forced to go to a London season and an arranged marriage. She would rather go to Bath for painting lessons. The two decide to switch places. Olivia went to Bath. Samantha went for a season in London and then to refuse Olivia's suitor.

Harry Fielding, the Duke of Westbury, had not known he had signed an agreement to take Olivia as wife. He would rather go to Bath and visit his old painting master. David Brackney, his life long friend, agreed to take the Duke's place for the season. At the end, he would call off the marriage.

***It is too obvious how this book will turn out. Nevertheless, it is a wonderfully told story.***

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, June 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was thrilled to see a traditional regency available through amazon. It's hard to come by clean regency romances and the zebra/signet lines from the 90's were traditional regencies that left a lot more to the imagination than novels written today. I didn't have a problem with the somewhat outlandish story, but rather with the writing. This was not a book I could lose myself in because the writing was so stilted and formulaic. I usually can't stop reading once I've picked up a book. I stopped reading this one and forgot that I hadn't even finished reading it.
