I love the Lacys' books but sometimes the doctrine of extreme Sovreignty of God in their stories is hard to take, even to the point of detracting from the enjoyment of the story. It makes the characters like chess pieces, hardly free to breathe without God allowing it or not. Worse is the doctrinal comments about God allowing or causing tragic events. But the historical details in the book are very impressive, and their books are always a wholesome read.
