4.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but other 'Seasonal Guides'are better., August 21, 2010
This review is from: Seasonal Guide to the Natural Year--Texas: A Month by Month Guide to Natural Events (Paperback)
As noted above, this is generally a useful guide organized by months. I wish it were a lot 'beefier'. As an avid sheller I was surprised that they put the shell walks in the fall, winter is generally a much better time to shell. A little bird slanted, ok, but was a little surprised about some of the things left out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Helpful information, but limited in scope, August 12, 2006

This review is from: Seasonal Guide to the Natural Year--Texas: A Month by Month Guide to Natural Events (Paperback)
This book is organized month by month. For each month, there are a few articles highlighting some very specific things to see. For instance, rafting in the canyons or watching for deer. At the end of an article, suggestions will be given for specific locales which are particularly suitable for this activity. That's all helpful information, but I was surprised by how location-specific the articles were. If you have the ability/inclination to travel around Texas to observe nature, then this book will help you know where to go and when. If you want a guide that helps you know what to look for in your own part of Texas, this guide can help, but there will be lots of articles that won't apply to your area at all.
