I am very happy with this power supply. It is very quiet. The fan does not even come on until I start a game that loads both my CPU and GPU, loading the CPU alone (i5-2500) is not enough to do that. Even when the fan does come on it is very quiet. The removable cables work well and had all the ones I needed for my setup (Motherboard, 8pin CPU connector, single GPU with two 6 pin power connectors, SSD, 3 SATA hard drives and a SATA blu-ray). If you need more than 2 6/8 pin GPU power connectors, you need a different power supply like the Seasonic 760W 80 Plus Gold ATX12V/EPS12V Power Supply - X-760 SS-760KM which Amazon also sells.

I can not directly measure the efficiency of this power supply since I don't have the specialized equipment needed for that, but I can tell you my new computer uses just a little less power than my old one and the power factor was 0.99 (both measured with a kill-a-watt meter). Also reviews of this power supply at sites like anandtech show that it is very efficient.

Unlike the older 550, 750, 850 and 1050 models whose fan grills protrude, the fan grill on this 560 model is flush with the top the PSU. For my case (a Lian Li PC60) this is important because the power supply slides in from the back of the case and a protruding fan grill keeps it from fitting. I had to return a Corsair 750 PSU (which is almost identical to the Seasonic 750w and is made by Seasonic) because it would not fit my case due to the protruding fan grill.

I would definitely buy this PSU again or recommend it to others, but my next PSU will probably be the 760 watt model instead of this 560 watt one since I want to be able to run 2 GPU's in my next machine.

Somewhat longer than OEM. Make sure you have enough space (including the plug in cables) before buying.

Works very very quiet. Does not draw any current when computer is shut-down - energy saving.

This thing is QUIET! The fan has only ever turned on once as my system doesn't really draw much power (integrated graphics). The only thing I can really complain about is the cables that come with it, some of their configurations and lengths of cables don't make much sense. Other than that this thing is rated as one of the MOST power efficient PSU's there is.

Oh and I keep seeing the x650/x660 cheaper than this one.. what gives!?!?

The Seasonic X-560 is an extremely solid unit. When coupled with a suitably quiet chip set, it creates the quietest computer i've ever heard. Thoughtfully recommend it, especially to those who want a quiet computer.

There are cheaper power supplies available as well but this is a high end device with a decent price. My previous PSU was 4 years old and labeled as Antec but is was manufactured by some unknown company from China. That PSU had still enough capabilities and connections for latest upper mid range systems but it became unstable, having booting problems. Capacitors most likely dried even though the system was used quite modestly during its lifetime. So I needed a replacement and made a long study of the right model to serve the next 4-5 years and being able to move to the next system as well when the current 4GHz quad core system will be updated.

Seasonic has a reputation of reliable and good PSU designs and the X-560 continues that path. They also manufacure PSUs to other brands like Corsair. Though not all Corsair PSUs are from high quality manufacturers like Seasonic. I have had the Corsair 650TX (not the v2 model though) made by Seasonic for 2 years and is a well performing device. If you want to check who is the likely manufacturer of your PSU or the one you are thinking of buying then Google "tomshardware psu manufacturers" and you should get the first hit as a link to the article showing the real manufacturers of the PSUs.

While being a bit modest on the power rating compared to many other >700W models this is a high quality and high efficiency device suitable for systems with a single graphics card. Seasonic has also higher rated systems (better suited for dual or higher graphics card solutions) but if there is no need for it then it does not give the optimum bang for the buck for your hard earned money.
The removable cables help the assembly in a chassis with limited space.

I bought this knowing that it would be overkill for my application. I fully intend to use it for years and thus far it has performed flawlessly. I love the modular design as it prevents extra cables from getting in the way and cluttering up the interior of the cabinet. It is now 1/8/2014 and I have used this since purchase after a build with no issues.

I put this power supply in a new PC build that I made last month. It has been humming along without any problems.

I always use the power supply configuration tool I found online to tell me how many watts I need in a PSU. If you Google for "eXtreme Power Supply Calculator" you will find it. The tool won't recommend a brand - it will just recommend a wattage.

This is my second or third Seasonic PSU and I haven't had trouble with any of them. They are worth the money.
