Book Description

September 1997 Great American Rivers (Book 1)
Why is the Bighorn River in southern Montana considered among the finest trout rivers in North America? Certainly the sheer number of trout is a strong criterion. But trout fishing is not merely a numbers game, and those who know and love this river claim that the Bighorn casts a dazzling spell. The Bighorn, the first in our "Great American Rivers" series, reveals the special magic of the Bighorn through the insightful text of resident angler/writer George Kelly and the gripping action and scenic photography of Barry and Cathy Beck. Kelly's narrative takes the reader through the four seasons of the Bighorn, providing comprehensive fly fishing and hatches information for the angler. A skilled naturalist, the author also interweaves a lyrical discussion of the flora and fauna within the seasonal text.

5.0 out of 5 stars The spirituality & grace of flyfishing the Big Horn shines, May 17, 1999
This review is from: Seasons of the Bighorn (Great American Rivers) (Hardcover)
I am a novice fisherperson, yet found this book to be of extreme value in learning about flyfishing on the Big Horn. George Kelly is almost poetic in his descriptions of the river. He is my neighbor and I am proud to know him. His love for his life on this river shines through and those I know, who have read this, have happily exclaimed that this is a wonderful book!

5.0 out of 5 stars The author takes you to the river, January 21, 2009

One of the things that will most strike you about this book is that it is a realistic view and description of the river, from a fishers point of view. He takes it to the next level by the values of the prose that accompany each section and each photo. If you want to fish the river, then buy it and enjoy the anticipation. If you have fished the river, then get the book and relive your trip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bighorn Wonders, June 18, 2002

George is an acquaintance of several years, I have fished the bighorn with him and his quides and found this book to be better than any pictures I took over the years. This is a unique look at one of the premier trout rivers in the world. For any fisherman (or fisherwoman) this book is a look at one of the experiences of a lifetime. For anyone fortunate enough to have fished the bighorn this book would bring back a flood of memories.
