Seasons is a wonderful, heartwarming book that reminds us all that God is always present no matter what season we are in!, December 9, 2005
This review is from: Seasons (Hardcover)
New Christian fiction writer Bonnie Hopkins brings us a protagonist we can all relate to. Jacetta "Jaci" Winters has had more than her share of heartache and pain. After years of suffering the pain of abandonment by her family, church and boyfriend, struggling as a single parent and constantly trying to make a descent life for herself and her daughter, Jacetta finally feels that things are going in the right direction. With a fulfilling career, good friends and family and a strong relationship with God, Jaci truly believes that her life is as good as it gets.
After a few unsuccessful attempts at love, Jaci has been somewhat content with her single status until she meets J.P. Gilmore, a man more than capable of making any woman forget about past heartbreaks. In J.P. Gilmore, Jaci finds a man she respects, loves and more importantly trusts. And while their love story seems destined for happily ever after, there are more than a few road blocks these two will have to overcome. Roadblocks such as Maxi, the one man who broke Jaci's heart as well as a few unexpected enemies who will stop at nothing to destroy Jaci's career and reputation. Although these enemies put up a good fight, in the end Jaci's the strength that Jaci receives from her family and friends and more importantly from God will make this season of her life her best season ever. And remind her that that the best is yet to come.
Seasons is a wonderful, heartwarming book that reminds us all that God is always present no matter what season we may be experiencing. The characters and the situations they endure will stay with you long after the book has ended!

Bonnie Hopkins displays great, mature storytelling in her debut novel, December 11, 2005
This review is from: Seasons (Hardcover)
Central character Jacetta Winters (aka Jaci) is a woman who has been through a lot in her life, starting primarily with becoming a young, single mother shortly after graduating from college. Jaci is left to raise the baby by herself after the older man Maxie she was seeing makes it clear that he has no interest in leaving the wife Jaci didn't know about to raise a child with her.
Jaci uses the brutal rejection to drive her into establishing a good life for her and her child, a thriving Christianity and a fiercely independent spirit that has kept her from falling for another man's charms for more than 20 years since the disaster with Maxie. Having survived raising her child alone and now the mother of a responsible young woman who has a family of her own, Jacie is set to live out the rest of her life contentedly single.
Once J.P. Gilmore sets his eyes and determination on her however, Jaci's plans slowly begin to fall apart. J.P. is determine to get over the emotional barriers Jaci has erected despite her reluctance to open her heart and life to him. Just as he seems to be making some headway, Jaci old boyfriend Maxie resurfaces and another woman whose had her heart set on getting to J.P. refuses to take no for an answer.
Throughout all of the drama and trials, Jaci and J.P. are surrounded by loving and committed family and friends who add to the depth and interesting nature of this story.
I think that Ms. Hopkins has a thriving writing career ahead and I'll be waiting for her next novel. Another winner from the Walk Worthy Press family.

Great Debut!, February 24, 2006
This review is from: Seasons (Hardcover)
I loved how the author dealt with the real life issues of recognizing the seasons of life and how God equips us with the necessary things to help us to get through those rough seasons and to shine in the abundant seasons. I was not dissappointed. I espically loved how the author showcased a strong male, positive, spiritual warrior in J.P., a willing and able vessel to be used by God. If you are looking for a good story, this is a great book to pick up. I look forward to reading more by the author in the near future!
