New Christian fiction writer Bonnie Hopkins brings us a protagonist we can all relate to. Jacetta "Jaci" Winters has had more than her share of heartache and pain. After years of suffering the pain of abandonment by her family, church and boyfriend, struggling as a single parent and constantly trying to make a descent life for herself and her daughter, Jacetta finally feels that things are going in the right direction. With a fulfilling career, good friends and family and a strong relationship with God, Jaci truly believes that her life is as good as it gets.

After a few unsuccessful attempts at love, Jaci has been somewhat content with her single status until she meets J.P. Gilmore, a man more than capable of making any woman forget about past heartbreaks. In J.P. Gilmore, Jaci finds a man she respects, loves and more importantly trusts. And while their love story seems destined for happily ever after, there are more than a few road blocks these two will have to overcome. Roadblocks such as Maxi, the one man who broke Jaci's heart as well as a few unexpected enemies who will stop at nothing to destroy Jaci's career and reputation. Although these enemies put up a good fight, in the end Jaci's the strength that Jaci receives from her family and friends and more importantly from God will make this season of her life her best season ever. And remind her that that the best is yet to come.

Seasons is a wonderful, heartwarming book that reminds us all that God is always present no matter what season we may be experiencing. The characters and the situations they endure will stay with you long after the book has ended!

Central character Jacetta Winters (aka Jaci) is a woman who has been through a lot in her life, starting primarily with becoming a young, single mother shortly after graduating from college. Jaci is left to raise the baby by herself after the older man Maxie she was seeing makes it clear that he has no interest in leaving the wife Jaci didn't know about to raise a child with her.

Jaci uses the brutal rejection to drive her into establishing a good life for her and her child, a thriving Christianity and a fiercely independent spirit that has kept her from falling for another man's charms for more than 20 years since the disaster with Maxie. Having survived raising her child alone and now the mother of a responsible young woman who has a family of her own, Jacie is set to live out the rest of her life contentedly single.

Once J.P. Gilmore sets his eyes and determination on her however, Jaci's plans slowly begin to fall apart. J.P. is determine to get over the emotional barriers Jaci has erected despite her reluctance to open her heart and life to him. Just as he seems to be making some headway, Jaci old boyfriend Maxie resurfaces and another woman whose had her heart set on getting to J.P. refuses to take no for an answer.

Throughout all of the drama and trials, Jaci and J.P. are surrounded by loving and committed family and friends who add to the depth and interesting nature of this story.

I think that Ms. Hopkins has a thriving writing career ahead and I'll be waiting for her next novel. Another winner from the Walk Worthy Press family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut!, February 24, 2006

This review is from: Seasons (Hardcover)
I loved how the author dealt with the real life issues of recognizing the seasons of life and how God equips us with the necessary things to help us to get through those rough seasons and to shine in the abundant seasons. I was not dissappointed. I espically loved how the author showcased a strong male, positive, spiritual warrior in J.P., a willing and able vessel to be used by God. If you are looking for a good story, this is a great book to pick up. I look forward to reading more by the author in the near future!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seasons by Bonnie Hopkins: An PeoplewholoveGoodBooks Review, November 16, 2005
This review is from: Seasons (Hardcover)
Jacetta Williams has seen more stormy days than sunny in her life. At 21, after graduating from college, she meets and falls head over heels for Maxie, a man who is not only married but also abandons her after Jaci winds up pregnant. After being turned away from her family, Jaci struggles to raise her daughter and make ends meet. She depends on her faith and strength in God to see her through. Now that her daughter is grown, married, and has children of her own, Jaci believes that her "season" of finding love is over and is content with her career, and grandchildren until she meets Jason Gilmore. Once again, Jaci finds herself falling hard but this time, she's more cautious, older, and wiser. Jason falls hard and must depend on his faith in God to be patient and prove to Jaci that the past is the past and that she must let go of the past to look forward to the future. That is until Maxie comes back into the picture, determined to be a part of Jaci's life and to pick up where they left off. Not only is Jaci's personal life falling apart but soon things begin to happen at work as someone is determined to destroy Jaci's career and all that she has worked for. Jaci must once again depend on her faith to see her through. Seasons is a wonderful, inspiring, moving read that teaches a wonderful, life-long lesson: With God, All Things are Possible. Bonnie Hopkins has written realistic characters whose situations are ones that can be related to. This book will touch you and you will root for Jaci as she finally finds her "due" season. Seasons is a must-read for all of you who love Christian fiction but even if you don't, this book has something for everyone: Romance, Drama, and Mystery. It is a must-read!! The book was very good in holding your attention. The author wrote about male female relationships and the situations people deal with. It described anger, jealously, strength, forgivness, and determination that the characters went through.

I bought the book to read on the eve of 2006, to bring the New Year in. This book captured me in the first few pages. I couldn't put it down! This novel dealt with real life issues and revealed that if we trust God and faint not we will have the victory in every situation. This was a great book to bring in my new year. I reccommend it to Christians and Non-Christians alike. God Bless!

I was surprised when I went to my mailbox and got this book it was so new looking for a used book.
I am very satisfied with the books that Amazon.com carries from the Walk Worthy Press.

5.0 out of 5 stars SEASONS--BONNIE HOPKINS, March 15, 2011

This review is from: Seasons (Hardcover)
I recently read this book and it was a refreshing read. The transition she was going through is a lesson for all of us. Especially when its finding love again after going through the pain of not being loved in return. The second time around she put God first in EVERYTHING. She brought to the table what was in her heart by opening up and letting Him completely in. Her belief in God that He will fight our battles, overcome hurt we must "empty" out all the junk in order to receive the blessings he has waiting for us. Even love. As we continue to grow we must continue to pray.......even though it may seem dark at times........there are smiles, light in the end. MY SEASON HAS COME, PRAISE THE LORD.
