40 Years After a Murder, June 9, 2010
This review is from: Seasons of Death (Mass Market Paperback)
SEASONS OF DEATH by M.K. Wren sends Conan Flagg to Silver City, Idaho, a ghost town that began to die in the 1940s. The body of Leland Langtry has been discovered in an abandomed silver mine -- 40 years after he died. Evidence recovered with the body points to Thomas Strabuck, Langry's partner in the Long-Star Mining Company.
Thomas Starbuck was never accused of the crime and he died in 1955. The question still remains as to what happened to the $10,000 payroll and the mining company's secretary.
The sheriff closes the case by trying Starbuck in absentia and Starbuck's widow refuses to accept the verdict. Conan's Aunt Dolly sends Cordelia "Delia" Becket Starbuck to Conan as a last resort.
The last thing Conan thought was he would almost be killed before he discovered the answers Delia demand to the ancient crime.
