And what a wonderful job they have done!
RozaFlow
Bing's voice was still so resonant and easy to listen to even this late in his life, and surprisingly strong on the handful of songs recorded just days before he died.
Oak Parker
This is a poignant album, being Bing Crosby's last.

"Seasons" was the very last album Bing Crosby ever recorded. Tracks 1 thru 17 were recorded just one month before his sudden death. Tracks 18 thru 25 were recorded a mere THREE DAYS before the great man's passing! My gosh, how that man could sing right up until the very end! He never lost any of his talented baritone voice. Not every singer can say that.

Bing sang some of my favorite songs on his last album: Autumn in New York, September Song, Yesterday When I Was Young, and my personal favorite, Summer Wind. He did a very fine job on all four, as well as the rest of the songs, all beloved standards

Five poems are included in this CD. They are: Around The Corner, which I found particularly touching; If; The Singers; Lucy Gray; and The Slaves Dream. I had never heard Bing recite poetry before so this was a nice surprise for me. These poems were recorded for distribution to his various fan clubs around the world, but for whatever reason never were. So they are presented in this collection for the first time ever!

I find it particularly moving that the last song Bing ever sang was "Once In A While". The lyrics "I know that I'll be contented with yesterday's memories, knowing you'll think of me once in a while" just kind of break my heart. Bing was my Dad's favorite singer. He idolized the man! So for me, Bing and Daddy are deeply connected in my heart. I cannot think of one without the other!

All in all, I cannot recommend this beautiful album enough. It is perfection. Once again, the magnificent Bing Crosby doesn't disappoint! Also, once again, Ken Barnes has done a fantastic production job. In fact, I've come to learn that if Ken Barnes' name is on it, it's gonna be GOOD!

I've been waiting for these recordings to be released on CD for a LONG time. I have most of them on vinyl and they are just about worn out. Bing's voice was still so resonant and easy to listen to even this late in his life, and surprisingly strong on the handful of songs recorded just days before he died. This collection is a treasure, and I want to thank Collector's Choice Music for putting this CD together!

This being the last recording session of Bing Crosby, it really is special. A brilliant CD, worth a place in anybody's collection.

I, too, have been waiting for this album to be released on CD. After 25 years I was beginning to believe it was never going to happen, but finally here it is. And what a wonderful job they have done! Not only are all the original tracks here, but others he recorded just days before his death. The poems are a nice touch also. I miss Bing! I miss Perry, Frank and Elvis, also! But, it's nice to have an excellent medium in which to remember and enjoy their marvelous talent!

"Seasons" was Bing Crosby's final studio album and was cut while he was in England on tour and taping his final Christmas special. That alone should tell you how busy and vital Bing remained right up until his death a few months after finishing recording "Seasons". Thematically arranged around the four seasons Bing selected perhaps some of the best songs from the Classic American Songbook to include here backed by the Pete Moore Orchestra. Vocally Bing is hardly pushing himself here, keeping to a nice soft mellifluous phrasing that could charitably be called "beautiful music". Compare his version of Johnny Mercer's "Summer Wind" here to that of Frank Sinatra's or Lyle Lovett's and there's really no comparison; Bing is clearly loafing here. But there are poignant moments like on Kurt Weill's "September Song" where you get a sense Bing is living the lyrics yet not overdoing it. In less capable hands a singer can easily overdo the drama, but not Bing. Pete Moore's orchestration is subdued and warm, nothing brassy, too rollicking, or abrasive here, but not terribly challenging either. If anything the arrangements sound far less dated than some from a decade earlier, lending a nice sense of timelessness to the proceedings. As evidenced by his punchy vocals with David Bowie on "Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth", cut at roughly the same time, Bing still had fire in his voice when he wanted or needed it, but there's little in evidence here. But that said "Seasons" is a warm embrace from a dear friend, delivering songs he surprisingly hadn't previously recorded in a career spanning 50 years plus. The thematic arrangement is brilliant and one other vocalists have picked up on as well.Read more ›

Seasons, put out by Polydor Records, was released in 1977 and is thirty-three minutes and five seconds long. The album was put out before Bing Crosby death. The Closing Chapter was put on later albums. Seasons consits of twelve songs; three songs per season. The record starts with Seasons and finish with Yesterday When I Was Young. The music and his singing are great. If you love Bing and want te hear his final songs, then this album is recommended for you.
