5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant Gothic album., September 20, 2001

This review is from: Seasons (Audio CD)
I never heard Ever Eve before "Seasons" and after "Seasons". So I don't have any prejudices and impressions to influence my review about this great album. For a Gothic fan, this album must be in the collection. The real Gothic mood and atmosphere surround you, when you listen to it. Ever Eve made a brilliant example of Gothic music. Dark and unique melody.

Drums are very good and follow the rhythm perfectly. During slow parts drums create such an intense mood that I can feel the heart trembling. Guitars have nothing to blame. They sound hauntingly sad and dark. I would especially mark the guitar solo on "Twilight". It's great. Basses sound very clearly here. Keyboards play a major role, but they don't disturb the guitars and basses. Synthesizers and pianos add very much to the whole sound picture. As for the vocals, there are three of them: clean male ( great ), growling male ( good ) and a sensual female. I love that sensual silent female vocals which seem to very seductive and dark.

Lyrics and the theme of this album is quite unique. The whole album is the decription of four seasons. The ten songs combine in a year. Some lyrics are in German that is great. Beautiful lyrics and a magnificent concept is what Gothic music of Ever Eve's "Seasons" about. I recommend it to Gothic fans and people who just want to listen beautiful heavy music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wishing it never came to end..........., August 8, 2004
This review is from: Seasons (Audio CD)
I've been wanting to write an in-depth review of this album for some time to convey as best as I possibly can the incredible impact this album has had on me since I first discovered it a couple of years ago, but I don't think I have to ability. Therefore, let me just say that this is my all-time favorite album, and probably the best album I've ever heard. And yes, I know that sounds trite, but it's just simply true. If I were on a stranded island with a cd player and could choose only one cd to listen to, it would be this one. Really, it's more of a musical experience than a mere recording.

Also, I believe that Tom Sedotschenko was the greatest, most versatile, most passionate, most artistic, most accoplished vocalist of any genre I've ever heard. His stunning range and infectous passion has left an indelible mark on me, as I'm sure it has for all who have heard this album.

Sadly, if you don't know, Tom died of a suicide several years after the recording of this album. He lived to sing on only two albums: Seasons and Stormbids. But in those two albums he established a powerful vocal presence. Few people, few artist, certainly very, very few heavy metal singers can actually touch your soul. Tom did that. It's a shame this album isn't more popular, more well-known than it is. But I think it will go down in history as something of a cult-favorite. That is, 50yrs from now, people will still be listening to it, and it will still sound fresh.

I hope that Tom Sedotshenko has found the peace in death that he couldn't find in life. And I hope that whatever force it is that governs human beings and the afterlife and the human soul, has welcomed him to a greater existence, to a more peaceful, happer season of existence. Though he may be dead, so much of his soul is still alive in this recording.

"And from the ashes a Phoenix rose--with wings made of gold it gently touched me, a touch of relief. I was ready to start a new circle, HOPING IT WOULD NEVER COME TO AN END..."

"Where is summertime? I'm longing for it's warmth. Far too long I shivered in winter's icy force. Clouds are above me. Tender air caresses my lungs. I let myself drift, wating for spring sun."

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY NICE!, February 13, 2003

This review is from: Seasons (Audio CD)
I started out as an Evereve fan with the album "Stormbirds". It took me a bit to get used to the sound, but after a while it REALLY grew on me. It's one of my favorite albums of all time.
I then decided to buy "Seasons", thinking that I was going to get more of the "Stormbirds" type sound... Although they sound very similar, there are plenty of differences between the two.
I was kind of disappointed at first with "Seasons", but then it REALLY grew on me like "Stormbirds" did. As a matter of fact, it didn't leave my CD player for a week straight!!
"Seasons" incorporates wonderful vocals, clean guitars and tight drums mixed in along with some depressing orchestra type background music. I can definately say that "Seasons" is right up there on my favorite CD's list, but I still think "Stormbirds" holds the crown for best EverEve album.

Either way, you MUST BUY THIS if you are a fan of Gothic Metal!
And if you can keep yourself from committing suicide after listening to it, the better it gets!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best CD's I've ever listened to, September 24, 2003
This review is from: Seasons (Audio CD)
I own only one other CD by Evereve (not that I don't want the rest): Regret, and even though they are not my favorite band (this being Theatre of Tragedy), I MUST say that Seasons is one of the best CD's I have ever listened to. Although the actual music is not "all that", the album has a feeling to it, a "je-ne-se-quoi" (pardon my French) that makes the listener fly. The whole album, from beginning to end, is an unforgettable experience: It has clean vocals, screams, female vocals, powerful riffs... With few exceptions, you don't know when a song ends and the next one starts. This is not bad. It allows you to immerse into "a whole new world" (Aladdin, die with envy), and before you realize, it is over. I repeat, although neither the music nor the voices are nothing we have never heard before, they are both great and hypnotic. Can't say it enough: One of the BEST albums I've EVER listened to. This one makes its way into the top five, hands down.
