5.0 out of 5 stars Smoothjazz.com Review
I'm sure I'm not the first music industry person to say this upon hearing SEASONS OF LIFE; Janita is presently poised to be the next big thing in pop/soul/jazz in the same camp as Sade, Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, India.Arie and Norah Jones. This beautiful star from Finland just may very well be the next American idol... I'm confident that Simon Cowell would agree. Now...

3.0 out of 5 stars Be careful
Listening to the album did feel like it lifted a weight off of my shoulders as most smooth jazz (gag) does with its lite and breezy sounds, and Janita's voice is definitely more than pleasant but for anyone to compare her to India.Arie, Alicia Keys, Jill Scott and even Sade is a TRAGIC mistake. Janita is a good singer with a nice sound, but the next big thing . . . hah...

5.0 out of 5 stars Smoothjazz.com Review, September 1, 2006

This review is from: Seasons Of Life (Audio CD)
I'm sure I'm not the first music industry person to say this upon hearing SEASONS OF LIFE; Janita is presently poised to be the next big thing in pop/soul/jazz in the same camp as Sade, Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, India.Arie and Norah Jones. This beautiful star from Finland just may very well be the next American idol... I'm confident that Simon Cowell would agree. Now residing in New York City, Janita had multiple radio hits, received two Finnish Grammy Awards, and graced the cover of numerous magazine covers in Finland all by the age of 17. Not one to rest on her laurels (and she has many), this talented artist moved to the U.S. to expand her horizons and released I'LL BE FINE in 2001. That's when we first met Janita. It's hard to imagine that it took some 5 years before a recording label stumbled upon her incredible potential. The lucky folks at Lightyear have provided Janita with a musical home base. In fact, Arnie Holland, the president of the label, signed Janita in 2005 after seeing her live at the legendary Bitter End on Bleeker Street in NYC. Funny thing is, Janita had been a bartender at the club some years prior. SEASONS OF LIFE is a stunning success... Soulful and sensual through and through. With the new single, "Enjoy The Silence," a riveting cover of the Depeche Mode hit, along with 10 more stellar songs on the CD, including my favorite, "More Than Fantasy," this is indeed the season of Janita! CD available in May 2006. ~ SANDY SHORE

5.0 out of 5 stars Sensual, Silky, and Soulful, May 16, 2006
This review is from: Seasons Of Life (Audio CD)
Sensual, Silky, and Soulful is a good way to describe Janita and this project. She will not overly excite you, but will nicely provide you with some good music. At a very young age Janita was a vocal celebrity in Finland (Two Grammy's) and now for the last decade she has been applying her talents while learning life in New York. (Seasons of Life) seems to sum up her celebrity beginnings and her current multi-cultural experiences. The smooth jazz hit `More than a Fantasy' sets the tone for the project and should get a lot of air-time. Although her sound in general is rather soft, you will see the ability and strength of her voice on the cuts `I Only Want You' and `I Miss You'. Adding to her talented band is a 16 piece string orchestra that brings back a little old school mellow flavor and you end up with an outstanding CD. It appears that the success of people like Norah Jones and Sade opened the way for Janita's style in the states, while at the same time the early success of Janita (I'll Be Fine 2001) is manifested in artist like Joss Stone and Renee Olmstead. Janita's maturity reminds me a lot of Jill Scott's successful growth as a capable jazz vocalist indicating a great future. If you are looking for a CD to relax to and enjoy with friends (or alone), the Sensual, Silky and Soulful efforts of (Seasons of Life) is it! It is a privilage to be the first to review this CD. ~the JazzeOne

5.0 out of 5 stars A picky listener enjoys, December 18, 2006
This review is from: Seasons Of Life (Audio CD)
I won't pretend to be a music critic, but I do feel compelled to do what I can to promote Janita and her music. After listening to the CD many times, I can't believe she doesn't get more airplay on the radio. I love virtually all the songs, and that doesn't happen with me. My nine and eleven year olds love it, too, but they've already had a heavy dose of what I like and don't really follow their classmates' favorites. My brother-in-law listened one time and really liked it. I would highly recommend the purchase, and in the off chance that you don't like it, somebody will.
Janita seems to have lived and learned a great deal in her young years, or at least pays attention very well. There's depth in her words.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, May 12, 2007
This review is from: Seasons Of Life (Audio CD)
Janita's Seasons of Life & I'll Be Fine CD's are the best I've heard in a very long, long, time. Her style is very unique, it's hard to categorize her music, you just have to listen and then you'll understand. But once you do, there's no return. I've purchased about 5 cd's so far, because EVERY TIME a friend hears it they want their own copy. And they can't have mine!

Janita is among my favorite artists to listen to. I look at her just as i do Sade or Norah Jones. I hate to see such talent overlooked by local broadcasts; its just a shame they don't play her music.
In fact i didnt hear Janita until i decided to turn on a internet radio station in 2006.
HOUSTON NEEDS TO EMBRACE JANITA'S MUSIC. I think people would LOVE to hear her.
For now i will just enjoy the fact that i have a rare jewel that few have discovered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, October 27, 2006
This review is from: Seasons Of Life (Audio CD)
Janita has such a beautiful voice and she and one of the other members of the band wrote all the songs and they are all awesome. I got a chance to see her at a club in Seattle and it was a night to remember for sure. Cookie

This is something to put on late at night, very cool jazzy, sort of samba, bosa nova feel. It's the music you play to someone special. Great musicians, laid back vocals, what else is there

5.0 out of 5 stars She's growing up..........., June 6, 2006

I saw Janita live in 2002 and she was wonderful. I love
I'll Be Fine, so upbeat and happy. And although Seasons of
Life is mellower and softer, someone broke her heart........
Her emotional range is incredible. I've been waiting for
this CD ever since I heard More Than Fantasy a year ago and
it's been worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars OLD BUT OH SOO GOOD, May 21, 2010
This review is from: Seasons Of Life (Audio CD)
Janita's CD SEASONS OF THE SUN is a brilliant work. Her voice is so smooth and the songs are haunting. It might be a few years old but well worth a listen, over and over, and a purchase. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
