5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting and encouraging, February 28, 2010
By
Staying home and educating your kids can be wonderfully isolated from the crazy world. Sometimes that isolation doesn't seem so wonderful. This book was so encouraging. I continue to refer back to it when I am losing the wind in my sails. It reminds me why my work with my kids is so important. It lifted my spirits knowing others had walked this path before me and finished the race. It calms my spirit to know that through the winter, I can always depend to the spring to come again. I am not the only woman out here struggling. I can endure.

I recommend this for Moms who have homeschooled for years, and are tired and struggling to continue. I also recommend it for those just beginning the journey.

Just finished reading this. It is very good!! Sally Clarkston is very real and open. She talks about the ups and downs of Mothering. The Joys and the sorrows. What she should have done differently and despite it all things still turned out great. She makes you stop and think about Mothering. What is Mothering? Where are you at in your Mothering? It's interesting to look at each chapter of Mothering as a season. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. While reading her book you won't feel like you are being talked down to or that you don't quite hit the mark. I came away feeling encouraged and renewed and ready to try again.

If you need some encouraging in your Mothering - - I would recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Encouragement for the calling!, July 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Sally Clarkson shares in way that authentic and genuine. I appreciate her passion in encouraging mothers in their calling to minister to their families FIRST. In our culture today, women are told that being a wife and mother is not "fulfilling." Sally is able to articulate well, that when we reconfigure our perspective and purposes to align with GOD's design, we will be fulfilled in way that is far more rewarding than we can imagine. As in every aspect of life, there are seasons and when we view this calling of motherhood in that way we are able to be more prepared for each one and find the joy and meaning in each one. Much can be gleaned from each one! I highly recommend this book and hope that many mothers will be encouraged in their calling!

5.0 out of 5 stars Grace-filled Encouragement for Moms, June 28, 2011
By

Sally's words are full of life-giving wisdom ands perspective for homeschooling moms "in the trenches!" The pages are full of joy and grace as she takes readers through her journey of mothering and home-educating. To hear from someone who has run the race well (and is still persevering) gave me great encouragement in my own walk as a homeschooling mom.

Seasons of a Mother's Heart shares Scripture lessons and personal testimony on how to embrace the ever-changing seasons of family life, from the dramatic changes in new motherhood to the faithful years of prayer and giving our children back to the Lord. The practical tips and examples on how to know and follow God's will for a particular season are what made this such an uplifting read for me. The author's faith amidst struggles and miracles compelled me to soak up the rich details of daily life she shares.

If you need a pick-me-up, want to avoid burn-out, or simply need some long-term perspective on this challenging path of home education, this book delivers soothing stories of God's power. Thank you, Sally, for continuing to aid mothers in our crucial role in discipleship within the walls of our own homes.

My wife and I have both enjoyed this book. It is quite encouraging; it gives me ideas of things to say to my wife, as well as suggest bits that she should re-read.

We've since bought a couple copies to give to other moms.

This book is high on my list of recommended books for moms.

This book inspires me to be a better mother. It reminds me of all the reasons I decided in the first place to stay home and homeschool my children, when sometimes I forget. It gives me even more reasons why I know that homeschooling is the right thing for my family, and it makes me feel so good about that decision and proud that we have chosen this lifestyle. It is helping me know what the right things are to focus on with my children and in my heart. I am about halfway through and every night i can't wait to sit down and read more.

This review is from: Seasons of a Mother's Heart (Paperback)
I have really enjoyed this book and has been a tremendous encouragement for me as a new Christian homeschooling mom. It has been a blessing for my life. I really enjoy that the devotions are what I need to hear, as a homeschooling mom. It is refreshing to read. I am not alone and many more moms like me who encounter challenges and victories in homeschooling. Sally is an excellent author who does a wonderful job of encouraging her readers. I have read several of her books, so I am very familiar with her and her writing. What's great is this is not just a book for homeschooling moms any mom will be encouraged and uplifted by this book.
