Even though Cancerslug has been around since 1999, they only recently began to release proper studio albums, all their older albums they released for free online. Tale of a Butcher was their first proper studio album and it was current studio versions of songs from older albums, and it was an absolutely brilliant compilation, This is their first new studio album of all new material and I can tell you that the album is a triumph. Alex Story the guitarist/vocalist/songwriter of Cancerslug is the leader and the sole controller of the Cancerslug name (think of Trent Reznor with NIN, Alex is Cancerslug the same way Trent is NIN), and his lyrics are brutal, dark, and many would probably say depraved, but it only makes Cancerslug better that his lyrics are so "evil". This is a real horror punk band, but they are not a punk rock band, don't get it confused, I would call them Horror Punk/Metal, because some songs are more punk sounding while others are much more metal and then some mix the two pretty equally. The Misfits and Glenn Danzig are a huge influence on this band and it comes through, but they are not another horror punk Misfits clone like so many other horror punk bands, Cancerslug sounds like Cancerslug and they are very unique and Alex Story is a true visionary, he paints dark pictures and many times has pretty profound lyrics buried underneath the more obvious horror.

Some of the highlights of the album are: Girls Chained Up in the Basement, Hard for Blood, Greed 2013, Bloodlust, Lessons in Death, Road to Hell, Seasons of Sickness, Everything, Taking the Knot, and Pagan, but truly every single song is very strong and this is one of those albums that I never even get the urge to skip a track.

This one’s grown on me a lot. I used to have like 5 or 6 songs I'd play and then I'd cue up tracks from other CS albums but now I usually play it from front to back. It's hard to pick a favorite album, especially considering how songs get redone a lot but this one is definitely up there for me and it stands on it's own. One of the things I've enjoyed about Cancerslug besides the sound alone is the sort of double entendre song writing and this is another brutifal display of that as well.

Still my favorite Rock-n-Roll for 10 years and counting.

Eat chit and die.

Has a great horror punk feel, with a mix of 50's rock n' roll. Very stellar buy, like upbeat positive death songs haha.
