Book Description

July 1, 2001
A woman's identity can become distorted by the many pressures she faces and the needs she uniquely fills. The frantic pace of life leaves many asking, 'Will it always be like this?' Lois Evans answers reassuringly, 'No.' In Seasons of a Woman's Life, Mrs. Evans walks women through the many different seasons of life, encouraging them to hold fast to the promises of God. Through the life of Esther, she teaches women to designate and write about their own 'stones of remembrance' throughout each season of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Seasons": Encouragement for Women Weathering Life's Storms, December 9, 2002
By
This review is from: Seasons of a Womans Life (Paperback)
PASTORS'/MINISTERS' WIVES, AND CHRISTIAN WOMEN SERVING IN EVERY MINISTRY, PICK UP THIS ONE!

Sometimes, life as a committed Christian woman comes with its own storms. When you're in the midst of it all, encouragement is a must! Reading this book gave me just that as I thought back on my life's struggles as a young and content Christian woman-turned-newlywed and pastor's wife. Like a breath of fresh springtime air, Lois Evans' "Seasons of a Woman's Life" thoughtfully reminds women of all ages and backgrounds of God's promises through flashback references to the life of Esther, a new queen hiding a Jewish heritage who was burdened with diplomatically influencing her husband to protect her people. "Seasons" chronicles Mrs. Evans's life adjustments as a young missionary's daughter-turned-pastor's wife and mother of four while she discovers God's three seasons for her life as through a look at the life of Esther. I highly encourage women in every Christian ministry to use this book to help discover "God's purposes for their lives and to depend on Him as He teaches the lessons of each season."

While the three seasons are universal to all Christians, Mrs. Evans uses their impact on her surrendered life to encourage and benefit all Christian women. The "Season of Seed Planting" marks the Lord's call in our lives, and our early answer of commitment to His service and communion with Him. Our daily walk with God through prayer and reading His Word are essential for the transition to the "Season of Growth" that witnesses our growing obedience, service, and preparation for Christian service in our specific God-appointed purposes in life. Our ripening and the fruition of all our preparing growth comes in the "Season of Harvest" when we step into our God-intended responsibilities, learning to be content without becoming complacent, and working and growing beyond our comfort zones toward our fulfilled purposes. Through "Seasons," Mrs. Evans reminds us with the wise Scriptural words of God's prepared woman to remain "strong and steadfast" during the weathering experiences that will come in the seasons of our lives. If you are a woman seeking or serving in Christian ministry, this book will be a blessing to you!

4.0 out of 5 stars An encouragement to every woman who reads it, August 27, 2003
This review is from: Seasons of a Womans Life (Paperback)
Every woman goes through spiritual seasons in her life: seed-planting, growth, and harvest. In her book, Seasons of a Woman's Life, Lois Evans breaks down the spiritual disciplines in each stage in a simple, yet enriching, way.

She uses Queen Esther as a universal woman to which all Christians can relate. Pieces of Esther's life are pulled out, examined, and placed with a stage of womanly spiritual growth. Mrs. Evans then uses scripture to teach the righteous response to the trials of each growth phase.

Seed-planting, the first growth phase, involves the call, the commitment, and Christian communion. The basic knowledge of God and learning to communicate with Him are the foundations of a Christian woman's life.

Most women are in the season Mrs. Evans calls growth, which builds on the foundation already in place. Here we learn obedience, service, and preparation. Without thorough grounding here, we cannot move on to the season of harvest. It is the time of raising our children, serving God's kingdom through unnoticed tasks, and increasing our knowledge of God.

Our time investment pays heavenly dividends in the season of harvest. Contentment, purpose, and fulfillment are the major disciplines of this time. Here, God places mature women in roles where they disciple other women, actively portray Him to the world, and realize their God given potential.

Lois Evans fills each of chapter with relevant scripture and then peppers it with her own experiences. This book will be an encouragement to every woman who reads it, no matter where she is in her Christian walk.
