This magnificent statue measures 16.75 Inches Tall, 9 inches Wide and 6.5 inches Deep. It is a superb representation of Water and Moon Quan-Yin, the Buddhist embodiment of compassion and mercy, originally carved in China in Liao Dynasty (907-1125) and current housed at Nelson-Atkins museum of art. Made with cold cast bronze, individually polished, antiqued, and painted with color accents, the definition and the intricate details of this piece are simply breathtaking. The photograph does not do it justice. The special production process of this piece, originated from Great Britain, uses actual bronze powder mixed in the cold cast resin in order to ensures a richer, more life-like presentation. The hand-painted accents further adds to the depth and dimension of this piece. This statue is much more beautiful in person and is heavy for its size. It is truly a well-made product and an excellent representation of Asian Art, very much worthy of your art collection or as the centerpiece for your personal altar. Brand New and Gift Boxed.

The buyer should know this statue is not bronze; it is a resin with some bronze powder in it -- quite a different thing. Although heavy compared to plastic...its not at all what one would expect if it were actually made of bronze.

Nonetheless...I am delighted with the image. The painted highlights and form are quite attractive to me.

Kuan Yin and Avalokitesvara are both complex symbolic figures. This statue does justice to the graceful androgenous complexity of the figure as does the little identification/description that came along with her/him.

Which states that:

"Kuan Yin is the "deity" of mercy. He usually manifest himself in a feminine form whenever help is needed, especially when someone is menaced by water, demons or fire. For centuries, people who were saved by his holiness and pure female appearance believed Kuan Yin is a beautiful woman. Till now, statues of Kuan Yin are still sculpted in female forms."

As a practicing Buddhist, I was looking for a special statue of the beautiful Bodhisattva of Compassion. I found this to be a truly lovely rendering. It looks beautiful and inspiring on my meditation altar. Highly recommended for Mahayana Buddhists or anyone that would like to develop true compassion through meditation practice.

I had wanted this statue for several months but it was too expensive on other web sites so when I found it on Amazon at a reasonable price (and free shipping) - I ordered it immediately. She is beautiful. The colors are muted and not as garish as the picture. She is a beautiful reminder to keep a compassionate mind.
